Hypertension is the most influential risk factor for the incidence of heart and blood vessel disease. SKI 2023 shows the prevalence of hypertension in the population aged 18 years and over in Indonesia is 30.8%. Stage 1 hypertension is an early phase so early detection is needed. The prevalence of central obesity in women in Indonesia continues to increase from 46.7% (2018) to 54.1% (2023). This study aims to analyze the relationship between central obesity and the incidence of stage 1 hypertension in women aged 18-64 years in Indonesia based on SKI data in 2023. The study design used was cross-sectional with a multivariate analysis approach to control covariate variables such as age, education, employment status, place of residence, smoking, physical activity, fatty foods, salty foods, hormonal contraception, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and kidney disease. This study found the proportion of stage 1 hypertension in women was 19.50%. There is a significant relationship between central obesity and the incidence of stage 1 hypertension in women (Adjusted PR = 1.900 (95% CI: 1.799 - 2.007) after being controlled by age, education, and hormonal contraception. Efforts are needed to reduce the prevalence of central obesity by increasing physical activity by walking up to 10,000 steps a day and regulating a healthy diet through the implementation of intermittent fasting.
