Abstrak
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) merupakan salah satu gangguan perkembangan saraf yang paling umum pada masa kanak-kanak. Gejala ADHD dapat mempengaruhi individu dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan. Berbagai studi terdahulu melaporkan adanya hubungan antara konsumsi sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) dengan gejala ADHD. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsumsi SSB dan risiko gejala ADHD pada anak prasekolah di Bojongsari, Depok pada Mei hingga Juni 2026. Desain studi yang digunakan adalah case-control dengan total sampel 120 anak (kasus = 40 dan kontrol = 80). Risiko gejala ADHD diukur menggunakan Abbreviated Conners Teacher Rating Scale (ACTRS) yang diisi guru dan orang tua. Konsumsi SSB anak, konsumsi makanan manis, faktor prenatal dan perinatal, faktor lingkungan, dan gaya hidup diukur menggunakan kuesioner yang diisi orang tua. Hasil penelitian menemukan tingkat kecenderungan konsumsi SSB >6 porsi/minggu yang lebih tinggi pada kelompok kasus (40%) dibandingkan kontrol (32,5%), namun hubungan ini tidak signifikan secara statistik (p=0,425). Studi menemukan hubungan yang signifikan secara statistik antara jenis kelamin dengan risiko gejala ADHD (p<0,001), di mana anak laki-laki memiliki risiko 5,3 kali lebih tinggi mengalami gejala ADHD dibandingkan anak perempuan. Faktor konsumsi SSB dan paparan lingkungan luar tidak terbukti menjadi faktor risiko gejala ADHD pada anak di wilayah penelitian.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood, significantly impacting various aspects of life. Previous studies have suggested a potential link between sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption and ADHD symptoms. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between SSB consumption and the risk of ADHD symptoms among preschool children in Bojongsari, Depok, from May to June 2026. A case-control study was conducted with a total sample of 120 children (40 cases and 80 controls). The risk of ADHD symptoms was assessed using the Abbreviated Conners Teacher Rating Scale (ACTRS), completed by teachers and parents. Data on SSB consumption, sugary food intake, prenatal and perinatal factors, environmental factors, and lifestyle were collected via parental questionnaires. The study found a higher prevalence of SSB consumption (>6 servings/week) in the case group (40%) compared to the control group (32.5%), but this association was not statistically significant (p=0.425). A statistically significant relationship was found between gender and the risk of ADHD symptoms (p<0.001), with boys having a 5.3 times higher risk of experiencing ADHD symptoms compared to girls. SSB consumption and environmental exposure were not proven to be risk factors for ADHD symptoms in children within the study area. However, gender was identified as a significant risk factor for ADHD symptoms among preschool children in the study area.
