IDHS-ARH 2017 reveals a decrease in the intention to use contraception, which mainly occurs in youth men. This study aims to obtain a determinant of the intention to use contraception in unmarried men aged 15-24 years in urban and rural areas of Indonesia. Design of this research is a cross sectional. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. Results: The proportion that expressed a intention to use contraception in the future was 76% in urban and 71.2% in rural areas. Determinant of the intention to use contraception in urban areas are influenced by the highest level of education, exposure to information preventing pregnancy from school, exposure to information preventing pregnancy from television, knowledge related to preventing pregnancy, attitudes toward condoms, perception of the ideal age of having a first child, perception of the ideal number of children. As for rural areas, it is influenced by the highest level of education (respondents who graduated from high school), exposure to information to prevent pregnancy from television, knowledge related to preventing pregnancy, attitude to condoms, perception of the ideal number of children. The perception of the ideal number of children is the dominant factor for intention to use contraception in urban areas, while in rural areas attitudes toward condoms are the dominant factor for intention to use contraception.
Decreased birth rates for adolescent aged 15-19 years are the targets of the BKKBNStrategic Plan and the development of population and family planning in the 2020-2024National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), with a target of 25 per 1,000births by 2020 and targeted at 18 per 1,000 births in 2024. Birth rates for teenage girlsaged 15-19 years according to the 2017 IDHS are still high, namely 36 per 1,000women aged 15-19 years, and adolescent girls 15-19 years who have become mothersand or are pregnant with their first child increased from 8.5% in 2007 to 9.5% in 2012.This study aims to determine the factors associated with adolescent pregnancy. Thecross sectional study design, uses secondary data for the 2017 IDHS. The sample of thisstudy is adolescent girls aged 15-19 years who have had sexual relations in the 2017IDHS data. The results of the study show that there is a significant relationship betweeneducation level, contraceptive use, access to health facilities and marital status withadolescent pregnancy. Variables that are jointly associated with adolescent pregnancyaged 15-19 years are marital status, exposure to family planning messages, access tohealth facilities and use of contraceptives. Marital status (OR = 12,105, 95% CI =6,449-22,720) is the most influential factor with adolescent pregnancy. The highproportion of adolescent pregnancies aged 15-19 years requires serious attention fromthe government and related parties in an effort to minimize the negative effects of teenpregnancy.Key words: adolescent pregnancy ; adolescent; 2017 IDHS.
The highest incidence of violence is domestic violence, women who have an attitude of disapproval of violence are able to fight and report acts of violence committed by their husbands. Attitudes towards wives towards violence are influenced by individual, family and community factors. This study aims to determine the factors related to the attitudes of wives towards violence against husbands in household in Indonesia. This study used secondary data from the 2017 Indonesian Health Demographic Survey (IDHS) with a cross sectional study design. The number of samples was 19,418 people. The results of this study indicate that out of 19,418 women aged 15-49 years in Indonesia, 71.1% of wives have a disagreement with husband's violence. Women who have a disagreement attitude are influenced by factors of age, education, area of residence, economic status and number of children. Education has a great influence with an OR value of 1.5 mothers with higher education have more disagreement with husband's violence than mothers who have low education. The problem of violence can be resolved by campaigning the issue of domestic violence to the community which is carried out intensively with a pattern of approaching individuals, families, community groups and according to the culture of the local community
Population and family planning development makes serious effort to improvethe quality and control the quantity of Indonesians. Data (Susenas, 2015) show thenumber of contraceptive use decreased from 61.75% by 2014 to 59.98% by 2015, inline with the improvement of unmet need for contraception from 10.98% by 2014 to15.8% by 2016 (SRPJMN, 2016). Unmet need for contraception is an inconsistency ofcontraceptive requirement or known in this research as type 1 unmet need. Besides thetype 1 unmet need there is type 2 unmet need that is mismatch of contraception usage.This study aims to know factors related to type 1 unmet need and type 2 unmet need forcontraception of family planning in West Sumatra Province. This was a study using datafrom National Mid-Term Development Plan Survey (SRPJMN) of West Sumatra for theyear 2017. We used the multinomial logistic regression to analyze the data for 1,180couples of reproductive age. The categories of dependent variable were type 1 unmetneed, type 2 unmet need, and met need. Independent variables consists of predisposingfactors and supporting factors. The results show the majority (58.5%) of subjects aged >35 years, number of children ≤ 2 (57.7%), and living in rural area (60.9%). Theproportion of type 2 unmet need (29.7%) is higher than type 1 unmet need (22.2%). Themultivariate analysis shows that variables related to type 1 unmet need were residence(OR = 1.4), counseling (OR = 4.2), education (1.7), and family planning health workervisit (OR = 0.6). While variables related to type 2 unmet need were residence (OR =1.4) and counseling (OR = 3.2). The most dominant variable associated with type 1unmet need and type 2 unmet need was counseling. Recommendations are addressed tofamily planning health workers in order to improve quality in family planning services,collaborate with religious leaders and community leaders to commit effectivecounseling so it can improve the needs of contraception and rational use of familyplanning.Keywords: type 1 unmet need, type 2 unmet need, family planning, RPJMN, WestSumatra.
