Wasting is a form of acute malnutrition as a result of a lack of food intake or experiencing an infectious disease that occurs in a short time which is characterized by underweight for height. The wasting rate in Maluku Province (12%) in 2021 is higher than the National wasting rate (7.1%) in the same year according to SSGI data. This study aims to determine the dominant factor for wasting in children aged 0-23 months in Maluku Province in 2021. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design and utilized secondary data from SSGI 2021 with a total sample of 978 children. Data were analyzed using the chi square test, Fisher's test, and multiple logistic regression. The results of this study showed that there were 10.9% of toddlers who experienced wasting. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between wasting and gender, age, diarrheal disease, and ARI, but there was no significant relationship between wasting and birth weight status, pneumonia, pulmonary TB, helminthiasis, measles, MDD, IMD , exclusive breastfeeding, immunization status, ownership of MCH handbook, provision of Vitamin A, mother's employment status, education level of mother, food insecurity, area of residence, source of drinking water, utilization of posyandu, and availability of latrines. The dominant factor for wasting in toddlers in Maluku Province in 2021 is the utilization of posyandu services (OR = 2.12). The conclusion of this study is that toddlers who have never used Posyandu services have a 2.12 times risk of experiencing wasting
Stunting is the impaired growth and development of children due to poor nutrition, repeated infection and inadequate psychosocial stimulation that can be identified if their height-for-age (HAZ) is less than -2 standard deviation. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia was 21,6% in 2022, whereas it’s capital city, DKI Jakarta has a prevalence of 14,8%. This study aims to identify the dominant factor and factors associated with stunting among children aged 0-59 months in Jakarta. The design of this study is cross-sectional using data from SSGI 2022 with a sample of children aged 0-59 months who were selected as respondents in the SSGI 2022. Data analysis was carried out in this study using univariate analysis with frequency distribution, bivariate analysis using chi-square test and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. This study found that among 3.627 children, 17% were stunted. Multivariate analysis showed that birth length is the most dominant factor associated with stunting among children in the age group of 0-5 months and 24-59 months (OR: 37,498 and OR: 1,657), whereas mother’s height is the most dominant factor associated with stunting among children in the age group of 6-23 months (OR: 2,287).

This study aims to determine the difference factors associated with wasting in children aged 0-23 months in 13 provinces in Indonesia (Study of IFLS-2 in 1997, IFLS-3 in 2000, and IFLS-5 in 2014).The research design was used cross sectional with total sample of children aged 0-23 months was 582 in 1997, 1263 in 2000, and 1609 in 2014. Wasting was measured using weight scale, length board with level of accuracy was 0,1 cm. The results showed the decrease in the prevalence of wasting from 12,20% in 1997, 11,96% in 2000 and 10,13% in 2014. Bivariate results showed that in 1997 there were a significant relationship between provision of companion breastfeeding food, poverty status, and sex with wasting events, while in 2000 there were no variables that significantly associated with wasting events, and in 2014 poverty status and body length birth were the significant factors. Multivariate results showed the poverty status was the dominant factor associated with wasting in 1997 and 2014. Prevention of wasting should be started prior pregnancy and focused on community with high poverty level.

Wasting is a form of acute malnutrition in children assessed using the Weight-for-Length indicator for ages 0-23 months and the Weight-for-Height indicator for ages 24-59 months. Children with wasting may experience impaired growth and development processes as well as an increased risk of mortality. Based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (Survei Kesehatan Indonesia/SKI), the prevalence of wasting in South Kalimantan reached 13,8%. This prevalence is higher than the national prevalence, which reached 9,2%. This study was conducted to identify the dominant factors associated with the incidence of wasting among children aged 0-23 months in South Kalimantan Province using a cross-sectional study design. The data used were from the 2023 SKI, with a sample size of 640 children aged 0-23 months who had complete data based on the survey results. The independent variables examined in this study were risk factors for wasting from various aspects, including child characteristics and health history, history of infectious diseases, food intake, parenting practices, parental and family factors, as well as sanitation and environmental factors. The frequency distribution of each variable was analyzed univariately, followed by bivariate analysis using the chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the prevalence of wasting among children aged 0-23 months in South Kalimantan Province in 2023 reached 13.3%. This study found that the father's education level was a variable significantly associated with the incidence of wasting. The dominant factor associated with the incidence of wasting among children aged 0-23 months in South Kalimantan Province in 2023 was sex (aOR 3.28, 95% CI 1.178-9.152).
