The coverage of early breast cancer detection remains low and has not yet reached the target, which can lead to delayed diagnoses and poor prognosis. One of the factors contributing to the low rate of early breast cancer detection is the low level of knowledge among women regarding early detection methods. The objective of this study is to determine the level of knowledge about early breast cancer detection among women in DKI Jakarta. The research design used is a secondary data analysis, utilizing data from activities conducted by Dharmais Hospital in collaboration with the Gender Action Plan (GAP) of Universitas Indonesia 2024. The study results indicate that the level of insufficient knowledge about early breast cancer detection is higher among younger women (81.1%) compared to adult women (70.8%). Statistical analysis using the chi-square test revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and age (p = 0.020). Among younger women, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and education (p = 0.005) and income (p = 0.002). In contrast, among adult women, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and education (p = 0.000), employment status (p = 0.043), and income (p = 0.000).
Keberhasilan pengobatan kanker payudara lazim digambarkan dengan ketahanan hidup 5 tahun (five year survival rate).
Breast cancer is still a health problem for women in developed countries and developing countries. In Indonesia, number of breast cancer cases is high, the second cause of deaths after cervical cancer. In the other hand many researches in Indonesia report that the breast cancer patients go to hospitals or doctors after late stage. The successful breast cancer therapy was usually measured by using a five-year survival rate. Besides therapeutically aspects, many factors are involved in five-year survival rate namely: stage, tumor size, metastases, pathological aspects, socioeconomic aspects and etc. The annual number of the breast cancer patients is high (the first rank from all cancer type in 2000). However, until] now, no studies of five-year survival rate on RSKD have been done. The goal of this research is to find the probability of 5 year survival of the breast cancer patients in Dharmais Cancer Hospital Jakarta and the relationship between some other factors and 5 year survival rate. The design of this research is longitudinal study. Data are collected from the medical record breast cancer patients on 1993 toI996. The sample is I37 persons. The method of data collecting is observing of the medical record and telephoning or posting to find out the survival of breast cancer patient. The result shows that 5 year survival rate on breast cancer patient is 48%, the median of the survival rate is 54 months. The 5 years survival rate on early operable stage is 72% and on the late stage is 12%. By using the early operable stage as a baseline comparison, the risk ratio of the deaths for the late stage is 2,3 (95% CI: 1,228; 4,163). Moreover the 5 year survival rate on the less than 5 cm is 81% and more than 5 cm is 24%. If compared to size < 5 cm, the risk ratio of the deaths on patients with tumor size 5 cm is 3,7 (95% CI: 1,803; 7,770). The 5 year survival rate on patients with a complete therapy is 69% and an incomplete therapy is 13%. The risk of the deaths on the patients with the incomplete therapy is 3,3 times (95% CI: 1,950; 5,572) compared to the complete therapy.Based on this study, It is recommended that doctors/medicians be able to increase the ability to handle breast cancer cases by doing early detections to the suffers. Moreover the supports for medical professionals and counseling professional are needed so that the patients are able to follow the procedure of treatments regularly and completely. It is suggested that it is important to do SADARI monthly of women above 20. The government should increase to do EIC (Education, Information, and Communication) by spreading EIC materials through mass media about breast cancer.
Female circumcision is not allowed to be carried out in any form and level since it endangers girls and women and violates reproductive health rights. According to National Basic Health Riset 2013, female circumcision occurred 48.8% of girls aged 0-11 years followed with 80% of parents showing agreement of the continuation of female circumcision in the future. University students as future leaders and future parents are related to the continuation of the practice of female circumcision in the future. This study aims to describe and identify factors influencing agreement toward female circmcission of future daughter among university students in DKI Jakarta 2022. Analysis was performed using chi-square and binary logistic regression. Data was collected between May - June 2022 through an online questionnaire involving 248 students in DKI Jakarta. Students who agreed of sexual moral perceptions of female circumcision strongly influenced their agreement toward female circmcission of future daughter (aOR=4.05, p=0.025). Also, non-medical faculty students strongly agreed toward female circmcission of their future daughter (aOR=2.79, p=0.037) than medical faculty students. Interventions are recommended through education and mass media to educate that the absence of female circumcision has sexual moral benefits for both medical and non-medical students.
Consistency in condom usage is one of the ways to prevent sexually transmitted infection in key population. The average client of sex services in populations that provides most prostitution service is the Direct Female Sex Workers (DFSW), followed by Indirect Female Sex Workers (IFSW), MSM and IDUs. This study is conducted to identify the association between knowledge of HIV-AIDS, its risks, and its prevention with consistency of condom usage on direct female sex workers in 9 cities in Indonesia. This study used cross sectional study design and used data of IBBS 2013. Population of this study is all of DFSW in 9 cities where the survey is held. Meanwhile, the DFSW taken as samples for this study are 15 years old or above who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The result shows that the prevalence of consistency of condom usage on DFSW in 9 Cities in Indonesia is 36.3% and the prevalence of DFSW which has good knowledge of HIV-AIDS, its risk, and its prevention is 55.9%. The DFSW who has good knowledge of HIV-AIDS, its risk, and its prevention has 1=3.2 time higher chance of consistency in condom usage after the confounding factors are controlled. The confounding factors in association between knowledge of HIV-AIDS, its risk, and its prevention and consistency of condom usage are education (OR=1.732), perception (OR=1.305), number of guest (OR=0.737), condom availability (OR=1.826), free condom access (OR=1.970), and offering condom to guest (OR=31.523). Further study is needed with more factors that determine consistency of condom usage on DFSW. Keyword: Consistency, Condom, Knowledge
Breastfeeding is an easy way to reduce morbidity and mortality in infants and childrens. The delay in giving the first breast milk can be caused by the chosen method of birth such as vaginal or cesarean delivery. This study was conducted in a cross sectional and quantitative approach using the 2017 IDHS data to determine the relationship between cesarean delivery and Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBFI) in DKI Jakarta Province. The sample used was women of childbearing age 15-49 years during the survey in DKI Jakarta Province who had their last child born in the last 2 years as many as 236 respondents. Univariate, bivariate statistical analysis was performed using chi-square (95% CI) and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression tests. The results of the analysis showed that mothers who gave birth by cesarean had 0.52 times [95% CI 0.27-1.01] times lower risk of having an EBFI than mothers who gave birth vaginally. Multivariate analysis in this study showed that mothers who delivered by cesarean had 0.54 times lower risk [95% CI 0.18-1.61] of having an EBFI compared to mothers who gave birth vaginally after controlled by variables such as education level, age, and economic status. It is concluded that policy making and providing interventions on how to implement and the importance of early breastfeeding initiation need to be carried out on mothers who have low levels of education, age under 35 years, low economic status, and who plan to give birth by cesarean delivery method.
