Rumah sakit merupakan organisasi kesehatan yang menyajikan jasa sebagai produk pelayanannya. Tenaga perawat sebagai tenaga yang bekerja 24 jam di rumah sakit perlu mendapat perhatian baik kualitas maupun kuantitasnya. Tidak tersedianya jumlah tenaga yang cukup pada rumah sakit, akan mempengaruhi penyelenggaraan layanan kesehatan yang bermutu di rumah sakit tersebut. Untuk dapat menggunakan tenaga perawat yang ada secara efektif dan efisien, maka perlu diketahui waktu kerja keperawatan yang ada di rumah sakit tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif menguraikan kegiatan perawat lebih spesifik lagi penelitian ini dikenal dengan nama penelitian kerja dengan metoda Work Sampling. Hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa penggunaan waktu kerja perawat adalah kegiatan langsung 35,2% dan tak langsung 36,5% hasil ini merupakan kegiatan terbesar di ruangan rawat inap RST Dr. Reksodiwiryo, berarti kegiatan ini merupakan kegiatan produktif yang cukup baik. Sedangkan waktu rata-rata yang diperlukan per pasien selama 24 jam di ruangan masih belum memenuhi kriteria Lokakarya Depkes (1990) di masing-masing ruangan perawatan. Perhitungan menurut Work Sampling hanya menghitung waktu kerja perawat secara kuantitas maka disarankan diadakan penelitian lanjutan untuk mengkaji aspek kualitas kerja perawat.

An Analysis on the Use of Work Hours of the Nurses at the Inpatient Care Unit at Dr. Reksodiwiryo Army HospitalA hospital is a health organization that provides services as a product. The quality and quantity of the nurses, as a 24 hour available force, should be supervised. The unavailability of sufficient man power at the hospitals will affect the performance of quality health services at the said hospital. To be able to utilize the existing nurses effectively and of efficiently, the work hours of the nurses should be identified. This study is a descriptive study that portrays the activities of the nurses, or more specifically, known as an employment study utilizing the work sampling method. The results of the study are direct activities, 36, 2% and indirect activities 36, 5%. These are the major activities at the inpatient care at Dr Reksodiwiryo Army Hospital which implies that the activities are quite productive. While the average time required by each patient within 24 hours in the wards, has not satisfied the Health Department workshop criteria (1990) at each treatment room. The estimation according to work sampling, merely accounts for the work hours of the nurses quantitatively, it is suggested that a further study on the quality of the work of the nurses is performed.
