Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is defined as the first health problem amongst the worst 10 health problems in Padabeunghar Village, Sub District of Jampangtengah in the regency of Sukabumi. It is due to the limestone industry activities in this area. This study was to perceive the relationship between the exposure of PM10 and respiratory irritation and infection, which was being suffered by the people, using Cross Sectional approach. As many as 30 neighbourhood associations had been selected as a cluster with 334 respondents. Chi Square and Double Logistic Regression Tests were used for data analysis. Experimental results showed that PM10 concentration ranged between 0.017 – 1.101 mg/m 3 with the average of 0.292 mg/m 3 . Number of respondents that were suffered respiration tract disorder is 107 (32%). The results showed the correlations amongst concentration of PM10 (p=0.0005), intake PM10 (p=0.005), exposure period (p=0.029), cooking fuel (p=0.044), and family members experiencing respiratory infections (p=0.018) with the respiration infected people. Double logistic regression test yields risk factor model OR=2.4 (95% CI: 1.168 – 5.078) for correlation between concentration of PM10 air ambient and respiration infections. Keywords: Air pollution, PM10 air ambient, traditional limestone mining, respiratory tract disorder
Jalan Raya Bogor region dense and traders activity almost every day and start selling from dawn until late afternoon that caused them susceptible to respiratory symptoms due to exposure to PM10 continuously. Based on this study the authors raise the issue of the relationship between PM10 exposure with symptoms of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) in Cisalak Market Traders in the Area Highways Bogor. This research is a descriptive study using cross-sectional design (cross-sectional) by taking the 100 respondents. The average yield PM10 measurements as 6 points in Jalan Raya Bogor is 106.33 μg/m3.Gejala ISPA most often experienced by traders as many as 74 people were coughing and dizziness 73 people. Age Cisalak Market traders in an average of 38 years to the age of the youngest is 16 years old and the oldest was 75 years old. In general, traders sell every day every week for 9 hours and was selling for 10 years on the market Cisalak. The number of traders in the market who smoke Cisalak are as many as 62 people smoked on average 14 cigarettes per day and had been smoking for 15 years. Of the 38 people who do not smoke there are 3 people who said that they had smoked. From the results of the study showed that 73 people stated that they rarely have symptoms of ARI and more than half of the sample, ie 52 people have never experienced traders ARI symptoms before they trade on Cisalak Market.
This study aims to determine the level of risk and influence of SO2 exposure to respiratory tract symptomsin housewives living around the steel industry. This study uses the Environmental Health Risk Assessment (EHRA) approach to estimate the health risk in the area around the steel industry and uses the design of a cross-sectional study to illustrate the effect of intake SO2 on respiratory symptoms carried out in November - December 2019.
Samples in this research numbered 109 housewives obtained by proportional stratified random sampling. SO2 concentrations were measured at 9 points in 3 zones around the steel industry by the pararosanilin method and analyzed by spectrophotometer.
The results showed that Sukadanau Village has an RQ (Risk Quotient) ≤ 1. As many as 39,4% of housewives experience symptoms of respiratory tract disorders and obtained no influence of intake SO2 on respiratory symptoms. Recommendations that can be developed to carry out risk management in areas around the steel industry are monitoring SO2 concentrations on a regular basis so that SO2 remains at safe concentrations <0,201 mg/m3
