Dengan persaingan antar rumah sakit baik pemerintah, swasta, dan asing yang semakin keras untuk merebut pasar yang semakin terbuka bebas, rumah sakit dituntut dapat menyajikan data dan informasi yang akurat, tersaji secara tepat waktu bagi pihak-¬pihak yang memerlukan (Depkes, 2003). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mencari sistem informasi yang sesuai untuk dikembangkan dalam rangka memperbaiki efisiensi penyelesaian biaya rawat inap di RSUD Sekayu. Metoda penelitian yang digunakan adalah melalui pendekatan System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) dengan cara wawancara mendalam dengan informan, telaah dokumen dan observasi. Hasil penelitian didapatkan masih lambatnya penyelesaian biaya rawat inap, tidak adanya protap yang mengatur pekerjaan administratif dan penyelesaian biaya rawat inap belum memanfaatkan sistem informasi yang terotomatisasi dengan menggunakan komputer. Sistem informasi biaya rawat inap dikembangkan dengan rancangan prototipe input dan tampilan output yang berisi rincian jenis layanan dan besarnya biaya layanan. Sistem yang sudah dirancang harus terus selalu dikembangkan sesuai kebutuhan pengelolaan sistem informasi di masa datang.

Competition between government hospital, private hospital, and international hospital are getting louder to grab market which progressively free opened, hospital claimed can present accurate information and data, presented on schedule for proper sides (Health Department, 2003). The objective of this research is looking for appropriate information systems to be developed for repair the efficiency of solving inpatient fee in Sekayu Hospital. The research method is through by approaching of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with deep interview to informant, document research and observation. The results of study found that the solving of inpatient fee is still tardy, inexistence of fixed procedure which arranging administrative work and the solving of inpatient fee is not using computer automatically information systems yet. Information Systems of inpatient fee to be developed with input prototype model and output appearance that contained of service type detail and level of service fee. The systems had been performed should continuously improved depend on the needed of information systems in the future.
