Correctional facilities often face challenges in managing environmental sanitation due to overcrowding, aging infrastructure, and limited resources. Cipinang Class I Correctional Institution is one of the major facilities in Jakarta experiencing severe overcrowding, housing 2,516 inmates despite having an ideal capacity of only 880. This condition potentially increases the risk of environment-based disease inside the corrective institution. This study aims to analyze the environmental conditions and implementation of sanitation management at Cipinang Class I Correctional Institution in 2025, encompassing clean water supply, building and cell conditions, waste management, wastewater treatment, and vector control. This research employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, comprising the Head of Inmate Care Section, Head of Work Guidance Section, and Head of General Affairs Sub-section. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis technique. Informations obtained from the field are, clean water provision still relies on groundwater from bore wells distributed through storage tanks in each residential block, while drinking water is supplied by external vendors. Building conditions show signs of deterioration with all cell types experiencing overcapacity. Waste management is conducted simply with limited segregation of plastic bottles and cardboard. Waste production exceeds the daily collection quota of 6 tons. Wastewater treatment utilizes septic tanks and basic Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), with some facilities not functioning optimally. Vector control is limited to physical methods and the establishment of mosquito monitoring teams. Despite sanitation management efforts, Cipinang Class I Correctional Institution continues to face significant challenges due to overcrowding, budget constraints, aging infrastructure, and varying levels of environmental hygiene awareness among inmates. Enhanced inmate awareness programs, collaboration with relevant agencies, optimization of waste management, and infrastructure improvements are necessary to improve environmental sanitation conditions in the facility.
The high use of lifting and transport equipment in manufacturing and freight ports requires increased supervision and guidance in their use. From the results of the case report proves the level of accidents in the field of lifting and transport equipment is still going on. The lack of competence of labor inspector in OSH of lift and transport equipment as well as the lack of supervisors increased the problem of lifting and transport equipment. Improving the quality and quantity of Inspectors Occupational Safety specialist of lifting and transport equipment is a solution that is through Competence Based Training (CBT) in accordance with the Competency Standards (SKKNI) of Labor inspector. The research was conducted with descriptive and analytic design through primary data of observation and interview and secondary data from literature and document from Ministry of Manpower. This study describes the condition of the implementation of functional training of current inspector and compared with the development of CBT patterned training, involving 3 supporting pillars namely Training Institute, certification body and business / industry. Keywords: CBT Training, Inspector of OHS, Lifting and Transport Equipment, Competency Standard (SKKNI), Training institution, Certification institution.
Adolescent girls living in child welfare institutions are a vulnerable group at high risk of engaging in risky sexual behavior, such as unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and sexual violence. This vulnerability is influenced by a lack of family support, past trauma, limited access to reproductive health information, and institutional care that often lacks emotional guidance. Poor preparation for life after leaving the institution further increases their risk of reproductive health issues. Based on this situation, sexual and reproductive health interventions tailored specifically for adolescent girls in child welfare institutions are needed. This study aimed to assess the effect of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) on improving knowledge, risk perception (severity, vulnerability, self-efficacy), and the intention to prevent risky sexual behavior. A quasi-experimental design was used involving an intervention group (n=55), control group (n=62), and peer educator group (n=14). Wilcoxon tests showed significant improvements in all variables for the intervention and peer educator groups (p < 0.05), while the control group showed no statistically significant changes (p > 0.05). The CSE intervention proved effective in increasing adolescents’ preparedness to face risky sexual behavior. This study recommends the sustainable implementation of peer-based CSE in child welfare institutions.
