There is a scarcity of data on mental health effects of the global economic recession. In this study, we investigated potential change in self-reported levels of psychological stress in the Icelandic population as a result of the major national economic collapse that occurred in 2008. We used a national cohort of 3,755 persons who responded to a survey administered in 2007 and 2009, including demographic questions and a stress measure (the 4-item Perceived Stress Scale). We used repeated-measures analysis of variance and logistic regression models to assess change in mean stress levels and risk of high stress levels (>90th percentile) in 2009 as compared with 2007. Age-adjusted mean stress levels increased between 2007 and 2009 (P = 0.004), though the increase was observed only for women (P = 0.003), not for men (P = 0.34). Similarly, the odds ratios for experiencing high stress levels were increased only among women (odds ratio (OR) = 1.37), especially among women who were unemployed (OR = 3.38), students (OR = 2.01), had middle levels of education (OR = 1.65), or were in the middle income bracket (OR = 1.59). The findings indicate that psychological stress may have increased following the economic collapse in Iceland, particularly among females in economically vulnerable groups.

Access to water should be guaranteed for every individual; however, providing safe drinking water access that reaches all levels of society remains one of the most complex issues to address. In DKI Jakarta, the increasing demand for drinking water due to population growth is not matched by the availability of adequate piped water resources as a source of safe drinking water, leading to limited access to safe drinking water in Kampung Muka, DKI Jakarta. This study employed a descriptive cross-sectional design with 91 respondents representing the residents of Kampung Muka. Univariate analysis showed that most residents in Kampung Muka still lack access to safe drinking water (72.5%), which contrasts with the overall safe drinking water access coverage in DKI Jakarta reported by BPS in 2024 (99.96%). Meanwhile, the average water consumption for domestic purposes met the standard, reaching 208 liters per person per day. Bivariate analysis indicated that age (p=0.004; OR=0.237; 95% CI: 0.087–0.648) and expenditure (p=0.000; OR=0.134; 95% CI: 0.044–0.403) were significantly associated with drinking water access. Multivariate analysis confirmed that age (p=0.022; 95% CI: 0.097–0.834) and expenditure (p=0.001; 95% CI: 0.049–0.472) simultaneously influenced access to drinking water among the residents of Kampung Muka, North Jakarta, in 2025.

Abstrak:
The present study investigates the prevalence of reproductive health morbidities, treatment-seeking behavior, and its association with sociodemographic correlates among unmarried and married adolescent girls of Sikkim. The study sample includes 1250 adolescent girls randomly selected from both urban and rural blocks of the State. Information on socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, prevalence of reproductive health morbidities, and treatment-seeking behavior was collected using standard pretested questionnaires.
Results: of the study indicate that the prevalence of reproductive health morbidities among both married and unmarried girls is quite high. Age, media exposure, and economic status emerged as significant correlates of treatment-seeking practices among both married and unmarried girls. High prevalence of reproductive health morbidity in this vulnerable group, particularly in rural settings, requires urgent intervention of health planners. This study reinforces an indirect and mediatory role of socioeconomic and demographic factors in the prevalence of reproductive health morbidities and associated treatment-seeking behaviors.
