A study was conducted to determine the range of ergonomic hazards that lead to low back pain (LBP) in nurses who work in Prisoners inpatient installation.Case study is preceded by a cross-sectional study to obtain the risk of ergonomics, ergonomics hazard and size of the working equipment (hospital bed). The studywas conducted at the Prisoners inpatient installation of Bhayangkara hospitalduring the month of February to June 2012 to 22 nurses who are exposed to the hazard ergonomic viewing arch of the back bone, bent work posture, and the number of transfer patients from bed brankard to the hospital bed. There is a significant relationship between work hunched posture withergonomic risk (P = 0031; OR 6.12, 95% CI 1.18-133.89; Pearson test 50%), backbone curved with ergonomic risk (P = 0024; OR 8.3: 95% CI 0.77 - 89.47; Pearsontest 57.4%), transfer of patients with ergonomic risk (P = 0011; OR 18:00, 95% CI1.65 - 196.30; Pearson test 57.4%). There were no significant associations between age, body mass index, smoking habits, exercise habits, and habits of stretching, with ergonomic risk andLBP complaints. As a conclusion the entirely ergonomic hazard is associated withthe ergonomic risk. To reduce ergonomic hazards, the work equipment needs to be improvewith adjustable hospital bed.
