Drug management is one important aspect of hospital management. This study is aiming at analysing drug management in pharmacy unit National Stroke Hospital Bukittinggi. This case study was using qualitative approach. The study revealed that drug management and monitoring controlling were not well performed. A high percentage of drug stock out in 2017 was found 7,6% out of 421 drugs item each month, while number of expired drugs was high, reaching 10,45% compared to 0% as target.. Planning to prioritize purchasing of drugs using VA, EA and NA drug need to implement in order to prevent stock out. To avoid expired drug, hospital need to purchased based on ROP and Safety Stock. VA group is the highest priority that include 10 drug item where NS 500 cc infusion fluid is the top one in the group. NS 500 cc infusion fluid would need Safety Stock as much as 23.400 number as Safety Stock and ROP 34.860.

Percentage of drugs that are redeemed at Awal Bros Hospital Panamin 2015 was only 83%with one cause was unavailable drugs in pharmacy unit. This study aims to analyze themanagement of the supply and control of these pharmaceutical logistics. This study was usingABC analysis (Pareto Analysis) method, ABC Quantity Analysis, ABC Investment Analysisand ABC Critical Index Analysis. The study resulted the recapitulation of drug procurementpriorities from 1888 item using pareto analysis formula application. Forecasting ofpharmaceutical logistics was done by using the Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) with SingleMoving Average method. Analysis of safety stock drug based on fast moving group resultedthe re- order point for seven days, while slow moving group has resulted re-order point forthree days. Monitoring availability of Life saving drugs is crtitical eventhough some itemsare not considered as expensive drugs. The study also found that the Inventory Turn Over(ITOR for ) 1 year was 12.1 times for drug Ceftriaxone 1 G injection. Delayed payment fromBPJS has resulted the challenge of hospital to purchase drugs and has made anavailabledrugs. It is suggested to conduct mapping and prioritization of drug for a particular period.

Effective pharmaceutical management is vital, determining whether the pharmacy as a cost or revenue center. For Utama Hospital, operating in an archipelagic region with variable drug delivery times, a highly efficient pharmaceutical logistics system at its Pharmacy Installation is essential for ensuring consistent and efficient drug availability. This study, therefore, analyzes Utama Hospital's current drug planning and control system, exploring potential improvements by simulating a new model that integrates an ABC-Criticality Index classification with calculations for safety stock, reorder point, and economic order quantity (EOQ). To achieve this, the research methodology involved analyzing drug usage data (October 2024 – March 2025), classifying drugs into categories A, B, and C using an ABC-Criticality Index approach, and then calculating key inventory parameters—safety stock, reorder point, and EOQ—specifically for Category A drugs. The proposed pharmaceutical supply planning and control model, incorporating these parameters, was subsequently simulated. Its performance was then benchmarked against the hospital's current methods, with a focused evaluation on changes to inventory value and the Inventory Turnover Ratio (ITOR) for these critical Category A drugs. The simulation revealed that the proposed method holds strong potential for substantially decreasing average inventory value while significantly boosting the ITOR. This research aims to offer an empirical contribution and strategic framework, enabling Utama Hospital to optimize its pharmaceutical logistics for enhanced operational efficiency and more effective, timely drug availability. The hospital has a main function that is held through a joint plenary healthpromotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative. Pharmacy services are anintegral part of the activities of the health care system-oriented health services andthe provision of patient care quality medicines. On drug consumption in 2011obtained a total investment of RS to purchase antibiotics Rp. 1,866,502,206 and avacancy occurs on the drug supply so that application of the drug is notappropriate number. This study uses ABC analysis to determine the classificationof drugs based on category A, B and C as well as the calculation of EOQ andROP. Results was collected through document review, questionnaires andinterview the informant. The results of this study showed the drug group Aconsisted of 11 items with a percentage of the drug is 4.25% of the total drugswith an investment of Rp. 876.329.723. In group B, comprised 96 items with apercentage of 37,07% of the total drugs with an investment of Rp. 785.005.348. Ingroup C have 152 items with a percentage of the drug 58,68% of the total drugwith an investment of Rp. 205.166.955. While the economic calculations in groupA gained varies between 3 and 67 units for a single message. While the ROP forthe drug group A critical indices obtained reorder point for antibiotics varies from9 to 126 units. To anticipate stock out, then the ROP can be combined with thesafety stock. From the research, hospitals ABC analysis to determine the drug so itcan be done surveillance.
