Prevalensi diabetes melitus mengalami tren meningkat, baik di tingkat global maupun di
Indonesia.
There is an upward trend of diabetes mellitus prevalency, both globally and in Indonesia. DM prevalency based on blood glucose examination in Indonesia shows an upward trend, from 2013 (6,9%), 2018 (10,9%), up to 2023 (11,7%). DM is a noncommunicable disease (NCD) that could be prevented by lifestyle change, which one of them is physical activity, a key in NCD prevention and burden reduction. This study aims to identify the association between physical activity and DM in Indonesia’s population aged 15 years and over in 2023, with stratification based on confounding variable age, sex, obesity status, residential area, employment status, and economic status. This study utilizes Survei Kesehatan Indonesia (SKI) 2023 data with cross-sectional study design. Univariate, bivariate, and stratification analysis were conducted. Based on bivariate analysis, physical activity is significantly associated with DM, with the less active group having higher odds (OR=1,36; 95% CI= 1,23 – 1,51) for developing DM. Confounding variables age, sex, obesity status, and employment status significantly associated with DM and will be used in stratification. After stratification, the association between physical activity and DM hold its significance, but the OR differs based on effect modification by age and sex variables. Population aged 40 years and over (OR=1,52; 95% CI= 1,35 – 1,71) higher odds to develop DM if they’re physically inactive. Interventions effort made by health program organizer needs to be focused on designing and implementing comprehensive physical activity and DM screening policy with partners outside the health sectors and focusing on increasing participation in physical activity among population aged 40 years and over.
Chronic kidney disease was the 12th leading cause of death in 2017 and is predicted to be the fifth leading cause of death in 2040. Based on SKI 2023 data, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in Indonesia is 0.18%. Although relatively small, the problem faced is early detection of the risk of chronic kidney disease risk factors. The problem of handling chronic kidney disease in Indonesia is the lack of education regarding the early detection of chronic kidney disease and its risk factors to the community. Based on this problem, a study was conducted to see the factors causing kidney chronicity in Indonesia. The study was conducted using SKI 2023 data with a sample size of 22,639 individuals. This study was conducted using the chi-square test and continued with logistic regression. From the results of the logistic regression, it was obtained that the variable that was the most significant factor causing chronic kidney disease was diabetes (p-value = 0.008; OR = 4.792 (1.52-15.14)). Because the results of the study showed diabetes as the most significant factor causing chronic kidney disease, the researcher suggested that there were two policy focuses that could be implemented. Firstly, for people with diabetes in terms of disease control, and secondly, for healthy people in terms of screening and early detection as well as health promotion for implementing a healthy lifestyle.
Background: Hypertension is one of the largest public health burdens in Indonesia and a major trigger for cardiovascular disease. The success of controlling hypertension is highly dependent on patient compliance. Based on SKI 2023 data, non-compliance with taking antihypertensive drugs is still a significant problem in Indonesia. Methods: Using secondary data from SKI 2023 with a cross-sectional study design. The sample was respondents aged ≥18 years with a diagnosis of hypertension. Respondents with incomplete data and pregnant women were excluded, resulting in a final sample of 49,026 respondents. Data analysis used multinomial logistic regression. Results: All independent variables tested (education, occupation, economic status, geographic region, comorbidities, time since diagnosis, age, gender, place of residence, traditional medicine use behavior, alcohol consumption, access to health facilities, insurance ownership, and information support) were significantly associated with non-compliance. The percentage of non-compliance was 53.5%, specifically 36.7% (95% CI: 35.9-37.4) of respondents did not follow the routine, and 16.8% (95% CI: 16.2-17.4) did not take their medication. The highest AOR was found in respondents who did not receive information support, both in the non-routine category (AOR 3.76; 95% CI 3.59-3.95; p<0.001) and in the category of not taking medication (AOR 8.63; 95% CI: 8.12-9.19; p<0.001). Conclusion: Non-compliance with taking antihypertensive medication is still a major challenge in Indonesia. Community-based interventions, increased education, and improved access to health are needed to improve treatment adherence.
The highest risk factors for HIV/AIDS transmission according to the Ministry of Health Report (2020) are heterosexual, homosexual and sharing needles. Adolescents, especially men, are one of the vulnerable groups to have free sex and drug abuse, which are risk behaviors for HIV/AIDS. This study aims to determine the risk behavior factors for HIV/AIDS in male adolescents aged 15-24 years in Indonesia. The research is quantitative using secondary data from the 2012 and 2017 IDHS with a cross sectional study design. The results of the logistic regression test found that age, attitudes towards premarital sex and peer influence were related to HIV/AIDS risk behavior in 2012, then in 2017 age, attitudes towards premarital sex, peer influence and education were associated with HIV/AIDS risk behavior in teenage boys. The most related factor was attitudes towards premarital sex with AOR values of 6.65 in 2012 and 9.13 in 2017
