Pneumonia is the leading causes of death among children under five in Indonesia. Exclusive breastfeeding and vitamin A supplementation are recommended strategies for preventing pneumonia. Although the coverage of both has reached national targets, the prevalence of pneumonia increased from 4.8% in 2018 to 15% in 2023. This study aimed to examine the association between exclusive breastfeeding and vitamin A supplementation with the incidence of pneumonia among children aged 12–23 months in Indonesia. This study used a cross-sectional design based on data from 2023 SKI. Data analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods. The results showed no statistically significant association between exclusive breastfeeding and vitamin A supplementation with pneumonia incidence. However, after considering interaction variables and controlling for confounding variables (child’s sex, history of diarrhea, and drinking water source), an increased risk of pneumonia was found among children who were not exclusively breastfed (AOR: 1.466; 95% CI: 0.928–2.315), although the association was not statistically significant. Meanwhile, the association between vitamin A supplementation and pneumonia became statistically significant (AOR: 3.029; 95% CI: 1.339–6.852). Therefore, strengthening educational programs through community empowerment is needed as a promotive-preventive strategy to improve exclusive breastfeeding and vitamin A practices in efforts to prevent pneumonia in children.

The prevalence of anemia in pregnant women should decrease, considering the number in Indonesia has included a severe public health problem (43.2%). The cause of anemia in pregnant women is greater due to iron deficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to take iron supplementation or blood-added tablets for pregnant women to prevent the risks posed by iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women. Based on the 2017 IDHS report, it is known that the consumption of blood-added tablets according to the health recommendations of pregnant women is only 44% and this figure is still far from the 2015-2019 Strategic Plan target. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the consumption of blood-added tablets in pregnant women in Indonesia. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional research design and the use of data from the 2017 Indonesian Health Demographic Survey. The analysis in this study was carried out using descriptive statistics, chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the proportion of pregnant women who consumed at least 90 tablets added blood was 44.1% (42.8% -45.4%). There is a significant relationship between the consumption of blood-added tablets with wealth index, area of residence, marital status, frequency of ANC visits, time of first ANC, parity, and husband's support. The most dominant factor related to the consumption of blood-added tablets is the frequency of ANC visits. Therefore, health care workers need to provide education to pregnant women to do ANC as often as possible which is part of the program of giving blood-added tablets to control their health during pregnancy to prevent the risk of iron deficiency.

Indonesia is one of the middle-income countries where 72 million people or almost more than a quarter of the population are active smokers. The age group with the highest prevalence is teenagers and adults who are vulnerable to smoking behavior. The high number of smokers contributes to the high prevalence of smoking-related diseases. Quitting smoking is an important step towards achieving tobacco reduction targets that can have a significant impact on health outcomes. Therefore, it is important to examine the factors associated with quit smoking. This study used GATS 2021 data in Indonesia with a sample of the population aged 15-44 years. Used a cross-sectional design with logistic regression analysis. Based on the results of logistic regression analysis, the factors associated with smoking cessation in the population of 15-44 years in Indonesia are gender, education, employment status, smoking restrictions at home, and family smoking status. While age, economic status, place of residence, age of first smoking, knowledge of the dangers of smoking, ever visited KTR, exposure to anti-smoking media and cigarette advertisements were not significantly associated. The most dominant factor associated with smoking cessation is family smoking status. It is hoped that smoking cessation efforts will focus on a family approach which can be supported by a smoking ban at home. Efforts to stop smoking can also be focused through schools or education by increasing awareness of the importance of quitting smoking. A health promotion approach in the workplace to increase the success of quitting smoking in the population aged 15-44 years.

Background: LBW infants are at higher risk of death and health problems during their developmental period, such as stunting. The trend of LBW prevalence shows a decrease, but the annual average decrease in LBW prevalence in Indonesia has only reached 0.73% and has not met the global target set by WHO. East Nusa Tenggara is a province that has consistently experienced an increase in the percentage of children born alive with LBW since 2021. The infant mortality rate in East Nusa Tenggara (25.67 per 1,000 KH) is also still higher than the national average in 2020. This study aims to identify the determinants of the incidence of LBW infants in East Nusa Tenggara by highlighting maternal sociodemographic and the household environment factors. Methods: This study used secondary data (Susenas 2023) with a total study sample of 1,599 infants. Data will be analyzed univariate, bivariate with chi-square test, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression test. Results: Based on multivariate analysis, factors associated with the incidence of LBW babies in East Nusa Tenggara are maternal age, maternal employment status, marital status, place of childbirth, insurance ownership, place of residence, and household food security. The most dominant factor was marital status (p-value = 0.001; AOR = 1.476; 95% CI = 1.369 - 1.592). Conclusion: The group of unmarried mothers needs to be one of the main concerns in efforts to reduce the prevalence of LBW in East Nusa Tenggara.

Preterm birth is the third leading cause of neonatal mortality in Indonesia. It significantly contributes to neonatal morbidity and mortality, thereby affecting the overall health indicators of the country. This study aims to identify the determinants of preterm birth in urban and rural areas of Indonesia. The data were obtained from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey using a cross-sectional study design. The study sample consisted of 32,288 ever-married women aged 10–54 years who had given birth in the last five years. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and multivariable logistic regression. The results showed that antenatal care (ANC) visits, multiple pregnancies, hypertension, and antepartum hemorrhage were significant determinants of preterm birth in both urban and rural areas. Maternal age, premature rupture of membranes, and mode of delivery were only associated with preterm birth in urban areas, while placenta previa was only significant in rural areas. Multiple pregnancies were the most dominant factor associated with preterm birth in both settings.
