Obstructive, Restrictive and Mixed Obstructive-Restrictive Pulmonary function disturbances is a lung decreased capacity due to the accumulation of dust which causing the decline and airway blockage and the narrowing of pulmonary tract that interfere with the respiratory tract and lung tissue damage. This disease can occur to the workers in an environment polluted by chemical fumes or dust which may increase the risk of Obstructive, Restrictive and Mixed Obstructive-Restrictive pulmonary disease. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of dust concentration (TSP) in the working room with the Pulmonary function disturbances of the workers of PT. KS in year 2010. This study is using survey research methods which is a research carried out without an intervention to the research subjects or non experimental. This study is an analytic study that aims to explain a condition or a situation with a cross sectional survey design. The observed variables are the Dust Concentration (TSP)of the rooms, Age, length of work, smoking habits, history of pulmonary disease, exercise habits and customs of the use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment). The type of data used are primary and secondary data, and the data collection is using questionnaires and interviews. The analysis of the data used is by univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis.
The results showed that there was a significant relationship between smoking habits and the use of PPE with lung function disturbances with a value of p respectively p = 0.000 and p = 0.003. While the dust concentration, age, length of work, medical history and exercise habits showed no significant relationship. The results of logistic regression analysis of 2 (two) variables i.e smoking and not using PPE, that is smoking habits have 5 times the risk of having lung function disturbances and do not use PPE have 3.71 times the risk of getting lung function impairment compared with ones who use PPE. Suggestion, in the future there should be an integrated system that can unify the workers' health examination data, air quality data in the working environment of each unit of work, ambient air quality data and data quality of air emissions so that the analysis and evaluation of health conditions of workers can produce more accurate conclusions for the selection and the use of proper PPE.
Fatigue is a consequence of work which decreases physical and mental work capacity and is one of the factors causing accidents in the construction field. Fatigue can occur in workers of various age ranges, including young workers aged 15-24 years. This study aims to analyze risk factors for fatigue including age, nutritional status (Body Mass Index), health status, work period, hours of work, rest periods, exercise habits, caffeine consumption, alcohol consumption, smoking habits, sleep quality, job satisfaction, demands in the workplace, control of work, social support and work stress on work fatigue itself in young workers on construction projects. The study was conducted on young workers of PT. ABC in Bali (3 construction projects), involving 212 young workers. The design of this study is a semi-quantitative analytic with cross-sectional study. The instruments used include the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Sleep Hygiene Index to view sleep hygiene and the adaptation questionnaire from Copenhagen for further assessment and improvement to prevent ongoing fatigue that is Psychosocial Questionnaire-III. The results showed that most respondents in the category of moderate fatigue (69.34%. In general, fatigue among young workers in the construction sector in conditions of need is a critical risk of work accidents.
Metabolic syndrome has a large impact on the health condition of workers, this can increase costs incurred by the company and lead to loss of productivity it is necessary to research the risk factors for metabolic syndrome in office workers at PT X which is expected to prevent and control the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in order to reduce risk factor of metabolic syndrome in future. This research was conducted on office workers at PT X with 106 research respondents during February - August 2020 in Jakarta. PT X is an engineering service provider of the Indusrial Automation that has clients in several process industries whose daily activities are sedentary. The design of this research study uses cross sectional method. The aim is to determine the relationship between the dependent variable (individual risk factors and occupational risk factors) with the independent variable Metabolic Syndrome. The results showed that the proportion of metabolic syndrome is 4,97% which the highest metabolic syndrome component was found in high triglycerides 20,4%, low HDL levels is 14,9% and had abdominal obesity is 14,4%. Which had 1 symptom of metabolic syndrome criteria is 25,4% and which had 2 symptoms of metabolic syndrome criteria are 8,3%. Although the analysis found no significant results on the relationship of individual factors and occupation of the metabolic syndrome, but on some individual risk factors such as smoking have a risk of 3,35 times greater than not smoking, and higher education levels 2,44 times higher risk compared to lower education levels.
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered type of coronavirus. COVID19 is a betaCoronavirus that attacks the respiratory system. Riau Province is a province on the island of Sumatra that has a fairly high risk of workers being exposed to COVID-19. PT.X is a company that is categorized as having a moderate risk of COVID-19 exposure. This study aims to analyze the relationship between individual characteristics and personal hygiene with the risk of COVID-19 in workers at PT.X. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples in this study is 107 workers. Data on individual characteristics (Age, Gender, and Income), personal hygiene, and the risk of COVID-19 were obtained from primary data through a questionnaire that has been tested for validity. Based on statistical tests conducted using the chi-square test, there was no significant relationship between gender and the risk of COVID-19 (p-value = 0.731). Insignificant results were also obtained from the age variable with the risk of COVID-19 (p-value = 1,000). Insignificant results were also obtained for the income variable with the risk of COVID-19 (p-value = 0.386).there is a significant relationship between variable personal hygiene and the risk of contracting COVID-19 (p-value = 0.00, OR = 7.030).
