Leptospirosis has been recognized as an environmental transmitted disease. Leptospira from subclade P1 (pathogenic) is the main cause of Leptospirosis in human and animal. To determine the relationship between environment and disease, it is necessary to detect pathogenic Leptospira in the environmental samples. Knowing the survival of Leptospira in the environment (water and soil) can provide an overview of where and how Leptospira can be transmitted to humans. Therefore, this study aims to provide an overview of the contamination of pathogenic Leptospira in the environment and the ability of Leptospira to survive in the environmental samples using a systematic review method. The search process in this Systematic Review used four databases, namely Pubmed, Science Direct, Scopus and Proquest, the articles sought are articles published from 2000 to July 2021. A total of 36 articles are analyzed in this review. Pathogenic leptospires are found in all community settings (urban or rural) in areas with high, low and non-endemic cases, pathogenic Leptospira are also found in household drinking water sources. Leptospira species from all groups were found in water and soil samples, the most dominant species of the pathogen group was L. kmetyi, the intermediate group was L. wolffii and the saprophytic group was L. meyeri. Pathogenic leptospires cannot reproduce in the environment, but can survive for more than one year in fresh water and 3 days in seawater. Leptospira pathogens are still able to infect even in a state of lack of nutrients. While in the soil Leptospira is able to survive at humidity <20% pH levels in the soil have no effect on the distribution and survival of Leptospira in the soil

This study was a cross-sectional study conducted in Phatadpadaeng Subdistrict, Mae Sod District, Tak Province, Thailand. This study aimed to determine cadmium concentration in farmland soil and water as well as at the residence of farmers and households. As many as 48 samples of farmers’ residence soil and water, twelve samples of households and six samples of farmland soil and eight samples of farmland water were investigated for cadmium concentration using Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The Mann-Whitney U test was used for the analysis of the difference of cadmium concentration between farmland soil and residence soil, farmland water and residence water. The results showed no statistically difference among all matrixes, however, farmland soil and farmland water showed highest concentration compared to those of resident farmers and households. The cadmium concentrations in all samples were far below the limit values. This study clearly showed that working conditions of farmers demonstrated higher level of cadmium compared to the living conditions. The cause of this contamination might be from the activities of the surroundings industry. Therefore, it would be recommended that farmers should consider for cadmium exposure while working in farm.

Construction sector is one of the most dangerous sector in the world, due to high number of accident and fatality rates due to work. One of the work processes that has the highest risk of causing an accident or death is excavation work. This can happen because excavation work will change the soil structure and affect soil stability. The biggest risk that may occur is the collapse of excavated soil or cave in, which is caused due to lack of available or inadequate control that are prepared before the work is done, so the accident can not be avoided. This research is a systematic literature review study with a qualitative approach, which is carried out to review, as well as gain knowledge about control that can be done to control soil stability in construction sector. The object of this research is a soil stability control in construction sector, which has the scope on the type, impact or effect, and method of the control. A systematic literature review was carried out through the process of identifying literature, extracting literature, and synthesis of literature from 11 (eleven) selected literature. The results showed that to control soil stability and reduce the risk of cave in can be done by using several methods such as, sloping & benching to minimize pressure or lateral forces on the soil or excavation walls, trench box to protect workers if cave in occured, shoring to provide support to the soil or excavation walls and utilizing the nature of soil to remain bonded with each other, binder materials & grouting to improve the characteristics of soil (ground improvement), and soil drainage system to reduce water content in the soil which will affect soil stability. The researcher concludes that some of this methods have their own limitations and characteristics, so in order to reduce the risk of cave in, one method can be combined with other methods.
