Introduction: Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is one of the emerging diseasesin the 21st century because of advanced technology with the global prevalencearound 60 million from various population characteristics and could cause aneconomic burden equivalent to 192 trillion rupiah. Objective: This study aims todetermine the relationship of individual, environmental, and computer factors aswell as the dominant risk factor with the occurrence of CVS in the Central JakartaMetropolitan Police Officers in 2020. Method: This study uses a cross-sectionalstudy approach with a sample of 92 police officers who are serving at theheadquarters with the research time along June 2020. Data were collected throughquestionnaire and direct environmental measurements using lux meter and RHIndex. Descriptive statistics (chi square) and binary logistic regression were carriedout to compute frequencies, proportion, relevant associations and dominant riskfactors. Results: The results showed there was no significant relationship on allvariables from individual, environment, and computer factors with the occurrenceof CVS. Nevertheless, there are four variables that are risk factors for CVS such asrefractive errors (OR=1.65), smoking behavior (OR=1.89), humidity (OR=2.50),and computer monitor type (OR=1.11). Multivariate analysis showed that humidityhad a significant relationship with CVS (p=0,04) and a dominant risk factor(OR=2.5). Conclusion: There are four risk factors that can cause CVS occurrencein the police officers at the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters.Suggestion: Risk factors for CVS at the Central Jakarta Metropolitan PoliceHeadquarters need to be done through various health promotion programs andpolicies related to occupational health, environmental, and safety.Key words:Computer Vision Syndrome, Environmental Health Office, Computer.
Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a group of symptoms that are often experiencedby computer users and it is influenced by various factors: personal, computer, duration, and environmental factors or combination of these factors. This descriptivestudy aims to determine the distribution and frequency of CVS risk factors in PPSIemployee at Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia ( UI ). The designof this study is cross-sectional and involved 26 employees as respondent. The datawere collected by questionnaires, interviews, observation, and direct measurement. The results showed that 84.6 % respondents get CVS complaint with the mostcomplaints are eyestrain (73.1 %), fatigue (65.4 %), shoulder and back pain (57.7 %)in work area with light levels <300 lux. Improve the level of lighting in the workarea, correct the vision error with a proper lens, and improve sitting posture whileworking with computer may help to reduce the CVS symptoms.Keyword: Computer vision syndrome, CVS, PPSI employee
Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) refers to a set of symptoms experienced by individuals due to prolonged exposure to poor indoor environmental conditions, including substandard air quality. This study aimed to assess the relationship between indoor air quality parameters—mold concentration, temperature, and relative humidity—and the occurrence of SBS among laboratory users at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. A total of 86 respondents participated, primarily aged 20–24 years, with most spending over four hours daily in laboratory spaces. Environmental measurements were taken from 10 sampling points, covering two points in each of the five laboratories. SBS symptoms were collected through structured questionnaires. Chi-square analysis revealed that 77.9% of respondents reported experiencing SBS symptoms. However, no statistically significant association was found between the tested environmental parameters and SBS occurrence, with p-values of 0.877 for mold, 0.705 for temperature, and 0.795 for humidity. Although not statistically significant, several odds ratios indicated a potential risk trend. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining healthy indoor air quality in academic laboratory environments to mitigate potential long-term health effects among occupants.
Hasil : Ada hubungan bermakna antara keadaan dan penataan rumah (OR= 3,956; 95%CI: 1,511-10,358), SPAL ( OR= 1,982; 95% CI: 1,111-3,536), Tingkat Sosial Ekonomi (OR= 1,928; 95% CI: 1,073-3,462), pengetahuan (OR= 17,625; 95% CI: 6,573-47,257) dan Pendidikan (OR= 2,407; 95% CI: 1,333-4,348).
Background: Jakarta is one of the largest cities in Indonesia where almost every year got flood. Of course, flood brings very bad impact for all human life aspect, which one is the incidence of various post-flood diseases. Environment changes caused by flood resulting leptospirosis spread (rat urine disease), this thing resulted because animal urine infected by leptospira germ will carried by water pond and contaminate house environment. Case occurred in DKI Jakarta are 65 people (2003), 78 people (2004), and 51 people (2005). Leptospirosis problem occurred in DKI Jakarta always occurred in the same area caused by bad environment factor, bad behavior, or individual characteristic influence.
Objective: To find relation between environment factor and individual characteristic toward leptospirosis in Jakarta year 2003-2005.
Design: This study use Case Control design. Data in this research based on secondary data obtained from Part of Diklat RSUD Tarakan Program ? Jakarta and through structured interview using developed questioner. Interview done by enumerator, which has trained to interview case respondent and control respondent. Subject are 190 people, whereas positive leptospirosa respondent as case group and negative leptospirosa respondent as control group, with 1:1 comparison. Independent variable is environment factor (house condition and settlement, house plafond, infector animal (vector), sanitation, food supply, SPAL) and also individual characteristic (age, job, sex, knowledge, behavior, and education). Analysis done by chi-square and double logistic regression.
Result: There is relation between both house condition and settlement (OR=3,956; 95%CI: 1,511-10,358), waste (OR=1,982; 95%CI: 1,111-3,536), social economy (OR=1,928; 95% CI: 1,073-3,462), knowledge (OR=17,625; 95% CI: 6,573-47,257) and education (OR= 2,407; 95% CI: 1,333-4,348).
Conclusion: From research result found that environment factor and individual characteristic related with leptospirosis in Jakarta year 2003-2005. There are four dominant factors that affect leptospirosis, such as education, knowledge, sanitation, and house component and settlement.
