Water is an essential requirement that must be met for human survival. However,water services, especially in the area of Bekasi Well Batu Village, DistrictBantargebang mostly using wells for drinking water and other daily needs.Manganese and iron are essential nutrients needed by the body. However, whenconsumed in excessive amounts can be toxic. This research uses environmentalhealth risk analysis methods to estimate exposure levels of manganese and ironand acceptable health risks of drinking water in the adult population in thesettlements around landfills Bantargebang, Bekasi. In addition, this study alsotested the correlation between the manganese, iron, TDS, DHL, and so the pHfound a linear equation to predict the existence of manganese or iron. The studypopulation was the entire adult population living around the landfillBantargebang. The samples to determine inclusion criteria ie the population agedover 18 years and consume well water at least 2 months. Sampling by way of nonrandom sampling and quota sampling. Environmental samples is well water that isin the selected households as respondents. In addition, anthropometric datacollection is done in the form of intake rate, duration of exposure, and weight.Total intake of manganese and iron in the study population not meet nutritionaladequacy rate each ie 0.26 and 0.02 mg / l. From the calculation of risk estimatesshowed that the level of risk of manganese and iron around the landfillBantargebang not risky or safe. In addition, the correlation obtained from asignificant relationship between manganese with pH, DHL, and TDS (p <0.05)thus found a simple linear equation for each variable.
Keywords : manganese, iron, risk quotient (RQ), TDS, conductivity, pH, waterwells.
The quality of drinking water is a critical determinant of public health, particularly in densely populated urban areas. Waterborne diseases remain a major global health concern and are estimated to contribute to over 2.2 million deaths annually. This study aims to identify the distribution of drinking water quality by region, assess the level of drinking water quality, and evaluate its impact on public health in Depok City, West Java. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were obtained from field surveys previously carried out by the Depok City Health Office through structured interviews and laboratory testing of water samples. Drinking water quality data from 570 households were analyzed using correlation and spatial analysis. The results showed that approximately 97.5% of household water samples in Depok did not meet drinking water quality standards during the study period. About 94.1% of the water samples used for drinking had the potential to cause waterborne diseases. The factor significantly associated with waterborne diseases was types of occupation (p-value = 0.003). These results highlight the need for the local government of Depok City to implement routine water quality monitoring and enhance public awareness campaigns regarding safe drinking water management practices, as part of broader efforts to improve community health outcomes.
The existence of landfill can be a source of manganese (Mn) pollutants in the environment. Mn can cause toxic for kidney if excessive intake. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Mn concentrations in ground water with kidney function disorders in the people living around the Cipayung Landfill. The research was a cross sectional study with 104 respondents which included Cipayung and Pasir Putih village. Kidney function disorders was determined by the level of proteinuria or hematuria determined by the semi-quantitative dipstick method. While the Mn measurements used SNI 6989.5: 2009. The results showed that Mn levels of ground water at 9 (13,6%) sampling points exceeded drinking water quality standards and 17 people (16.3%) showed changes in kidney function. Mn concentration were between 0.06 mg / L-0.84 mg /L. There was no relationship between Mn concentration in ground water with kidney function disorders. While risk factors for hypertension and obesity had a significant relationship with kidney function disorders (OR 4.20; 95%; CI: 1.27-13.84;
OR 3.64; 95%; CI: 1.10-12.07). The conclusions of this study is risk factors for hypertension and obesity have a significant relationship with kidney function disorders.
