Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara jenis kelamin (OR=1,958; p=0,007), easy (OR=2,910; p<0,001), attractive (OR=2,435; p<0,001), social (OR=2,481; p<0,001), dan timely (OR=1,973; p=0,003) dengan perilaku penggunaan rokok elektronik.
Electronic cigarette use among adolescents has increased significantly and become a significant public health issue. Exposure to influencer content on social media is suspected to play a role in encouraging this behavior through persuasive communication strategies. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the EAST (Easy, Attractive, Social, and Timely) components of social media influencer content and e-cigarette use behavior among adolescents in Depok City. This study was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 391 adolescents aged 18–24 who actively use social media, selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire completed via Google Form or a printed questionnaire (hard copy). Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-square), and multivariate (multiple logistic regression) analyses. The results showed that 32.7% (128 respondents) used e-cigarettes. A total of 53.2% of respondents stated that influencer content on social media is easy, 48.6% stated that it is attractive, 55,0% stated that it is social, and 48.8% stated that it is timely. There was a significant relationship between gender (OR=1.958; p=0.007), easy (OR=2.910; p<0.001), attractive (OR=2.435; p<0.001), social (OR=2.481; p<0.001), and timely (OR=1.973; p=0.003) with e-cigarette use behavior. Meanwhile, age (p=0.588), education (p=0.562), and occupation (p=0.102) were not significantly related to e-cigarette use behavior. The most dominant variable was attractive with an OR=4.520 (95% CI: 1.763–11.588; p=0.002). This study concluded that influencer content on social media is associated with e-cigarette use behavior in adolescents using the EAST framework. Strengthening regulation of social media content and developing EAST-based health messages as a counter-narrative are needed to reduce the influence of e-cigarette promotions on adolescents.

Sebaliknya, hubungan signifikan ditemukan pada variabel kelompok usia (p = 0,029; OR = 2,590), sikap (p < 0,001; OR = 0,081), norma subjektif (p < 0,001; OR = 0,101), dan PBC (p < 0,001; OR = 0,085).
Background: The use of e-cigarettes among school-aged adolescents in Indonesia continues to rise, raising public health concerns. Behavioral intentions, which are influenced by attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control (PBC), and exposure to social media promotions, play a crucial role in predicting vaping behavior among adolescents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between characteristics, attitudes, subjective norms, PBC, and exposure to social media promotions with the intention to use e-cigarettes among junior high school students. Methods: This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among students at Junior High School X in Jakarta, involving a sample of 101 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test (α = 0.05) and odds ratio (OR). Results: Univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents had a low intention to use e-cigarettes (68.3%) and a low level of exposure to social media promotions (73.3%). Bivariate analysis showed no significant association between grade level (p = 0.719), gender (p = 0.620), allowance (p = 0.312), and exposure to social media promotions (p = 0.789) and students’ intention. In contrast, significant associations were found for age group (p = 0.029; OR = 2.590), attitude (p < 0.001; OR = 0.081), subjective norm (p < 0.001; OR = 0.101), and PBC (p < 0.001; OR = 0.085). Conclusion: The factors of age group, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control were significantly associated with e-cigarette use intentions among students at Junior High School X in Jakarta, whereas exposure to social media promotions did not show a significant association. Health intervention efforts are recommended to focus more on strengthening students’ internal control and optimizing the peer counselor program at the school.

The Province of Jakarta is is among the top five provinces in Indonesia with the highest proportion of electronic cigarette use, particularly among young people, including university students. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing electronic cigarette use behavior among college students in Jakarta by employing the Problem Behavior Theory (PBT) framework. This theory was selected because it effectively explains how deviant behaviors, including the use of addictive substances such as electronic cigarettes, are formed through complex interactions among individual factors, the social environment, and behavioral systems. The study involved 281 college students aged 20–24 years from the five administrative regions of Jakarta who served as respondents. Data were collected online and analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that 17.8% of respondents were active users of electronic cigarettes, 35.9% had tried using them, and 41% reported having quit. Among active users, 56% used electronic cigarettes daily, and most had been using them for more than two years. The primary reasons for using electronic cigarettes included taste, aroma, convenience, and the perception of e-cigarettes as an alternative to conventional cigarettes. Significant factors influencing electronic cigarette use behavior included gender, family structure, parental smoking behavior, congruence of values between parents and peers, and peer rejection of deviant behavior, with gender emerging as the most dominant factor, indicating that male students were more likely to use electronic cigarettes than female students. The recommendations focus on developing gender- and family-based health promotion modules in collaboration with universities, strengthening surveillance systems and smoke-free zones on campuses, utilizing digital and social media for educational outreach, empowering students as peer leaders and micro-influencers, and implementing participatory monitoring through digital feedback mechanisms. Further research using longitudinal approaches is recommended to better understand the long-term dynamics of electronic cigarette use behavior

Currently, there is a rapid increase in the prevalence of e-cigarette smoking in Indonesia. According to the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) 2021, the prevalence of smokers in Indonesia increased 10 times higher from 0.3% in 2011 to 3% in 2021. The 2023 GATS results show that one of the regions with the highest prevalence of e-cigarette smokers is DKI Jakarta with the age group 10-14 having the highest prevalence of 29.72%. Several studies have shown a relationship between parental knowledge and attitudes towards adolescent e-cigarette smoking behavior. This study was conducted to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and preventive practices of parents towards e-cigarette smoking behavior in adolescents at SMP X Jakarta. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews with purposively selected informants. The results showed that parents have basic knowledge about e-cigarettes, which function like cigarettes by using tools and liquids, but their knowledge of the content and health effects is lacking. Parents also have a disapproving attitude towards e-cigarettes or an attitude that supports children not to use e-cigarettes. There are various prevention practices carried out by parents such as open communication, teaching religion, maintaining children's friendship environment, supporting boys to be friends with girls because they see women tend not to smoke, and giving physical and non-physical punishment. On the other hand, all informants did not receive informants about e-cigarettes from schools. Therefore, it is recommended for schools to provide information related to e-cigarettes to parents and students to improve their knowledge and attitudes as an effort to prevent e-cigarette smoking behavior in adolescents.

This thesis examines the correlation between smartphone addiction and eating behavior styles among Generation Z in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta. Eating behavior styles, which include emotional eating, external eating, and restrained eating, represent an important aspect of health behavior that may influence individuals’ dietary patterns and is associated with the risk of various non-communicable diseases. The increasing use of smartphones among Generation Z has raised concerns regarding its potential impact on health-related behaviors, including eating behavior styles. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the correlation between smartphone addiction and eating behavior styles among Generation Z in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta. This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 225 Generation Z respondents residing in Jakarta Special Capital Region were recruited using a non-probability sampling technique combining convenience sampling and quota sampling. Data were collected through an online survey using the Smartphone Addiction Scale–Short Version (SAS-SV) and the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ). Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation test and multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant positive relationship between smartphone addiction and emotional eating (r = 0.343; p < 0.001), as well as between smartphone addiction and external eating (r = 0.470; p < 0.001). However, no significant relationship was found between smartphone addiction and restrained eating (r = -0.072; p = 0.280). Multivariate analysis indicated that smartphone addiction remained significantly associated with emotional eating (B = 0.351; p < 0.001) and external eating (B = 0.376; p < 0.001) after controlling for sex, employment status, and food accessibility. In contrast, smartphone addiction was not significantly associated with restrained eating (B = -0.037; p = 0.585). This study concludes that smartphone addiction is associated with emotional eating and external eating but is not associated with restrained eating among Generation Z in Jakarta Special Capital Region. These findings suggest that the relationship between smartphone addiction and eating behavior styles does not necessarily follow the same pattern across different dimensions of eating behavior.

The use of electronic cigarettes among adolescents has been increasing globally, including in Indonesia, where its prevalence among the 10–19 age group has exceeded the national average. The school environment serves as a strategic arena for prevention efforts, given that teachers play a central role in shaping students' behaviors and values. This study aims to describe teachers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward the prevention of electronic cigarette use among adolescents at Junior High School X and Y in Bekasi in 2026. This study employed a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and observation. Informants consisted of 10 teachers as primary informants, 2 school principals and 1 representative from the City Health Office as key informants, and 28 students divided into 4 FGD groups as supporting informants. The results showed that teachers' knowledge of electronic cigarettes remained at a basic level, with all informants being familiar with electronic cigarettes but the majority not adequately understanding their specific contents and health impacts. All informants consistently held negative attitudes toward electronic cigarette use among adolescents, although variations were found regarding responsibility outside the school environment. Prevention practices were incidental and not systematically programmed, and no education specifically addressing electronic cigarettes was provided to students at either school. A finding that warrants particular attention is the smoking behavior of teachers and staff within the school environment, which undermines the credibility of existing prevention efforts. This study concludes that there is a significant gap between teachers' positive attitudes and their actual prevention practices, influenced by limited knowledge and the absence of supporting programs and policies.
