Operator haul truck Haul truck operator is one of the high-risk occupations in experiencing fatigue caused by the implementation of shift work, sleep quantity and quality disturbance, other related factors. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between shift work, quantity and quality of sleep, and other factors associated with fatigue on the haul truck operator. A cross-sectional study was conducted in this study using questionnaires of Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS), measurement of stress using cocorometer, and measurement of sleep quantity and quality using fitbit among 196 male respondents who work as haul truck operator. The result of this study shown there is a significant correlation between the quantity of sleep (OR = 3,222, p = 0,028) and fatigue, also between the quality of sleep (OR = 2,800, p = 0.025) and fatigue. However, shift work has no significant correlation with fatigue. Other factors, including mental workload (OR = 2,296, p = 0,027), work environment (OR = 2,400, p = 0,014), monotonous work (OR = 3,371, p = 0,002), age (OR = 2,708, p = 0,005), and sleep hygiene (OR = 3,840, p = 0,001) also have significant correlation with operator fatigue in PT X.

Accidents related to traffic and incidents related to vehicles are the main causes of accidents in mining areas. One of the causes is fatigue on mining truck operators. This study was conducted to describe subjective fatigue and analyze risk factors related to subjective fatigue in coal mining vehicle operators in mining and hauling area of PT Adaro Indonesia. The risk factors studied included non-work-related risk factors (age, nutritional status (BMI), neck circumference, health complaints, sleep quantity, and sleep quality) and work-related risk factors (work area, length of work, shift work, commuting time, and work environment, especially temperature, noise, vibration, and lighting). The study was conducted from February to July 2022. The data used in this study came from a questionnaire distributed online, which included a questionnaire on individual and job characteristics, the Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS), and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis with chi-square test and multiple logistic regression test for prediction models. The minimum sample size in this study was 436 operators, but the data that were successfully analyzed were 440 respondents. The results showed that as many as 130 operators (29.5%) experienced subjective fatigue. The results of inferential statistical analysis using the chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between risk factors not related to work, namely nutritional status (fat and obesity BMI), health complaints, and sleep quality on subjective fatigue in operators. The results of inferential statistical analysis also show that there is a significant relationship between work-related risk factors, namely working period, temperature, noise, vibration, and lighting, and subjective fatigue on operators. Meanwhile, the results of inferential analysis using multiple logistic regression test predictive models indicate that sleep quality is the most dominant variable associated with subjective fatigue in operators.
Kelelahan merupakan masalah multifaktor yang dialami pekerja sektor manufaktur dan
berdampak pada kecelakaan kerja, kesehatan, serta ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk menganalisis faktor risiko yang berhubungan dengan kelelahan pada pekerja sales
perusahaan manufaktur di PT X tahun 2025. Faktor risiko yang diteliti meliputi faktor
risiko terkait pekerjaan (durasi kerja, masa kerja, beban kerja, waktu istirahat, waktu
perjalanan, dan lingkungan kerja) dan faktor risiko tidak terkait pekerjaan (usia, status
gizi, kuantitas tidur, kualitas tidur, konsumsi alkohol, dan konsumsi kafein). Penelitian
ini menggunakan desain studi cross-sectional yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari
hingga Juni 2025. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner daring, meliputi kuesioner
karakteristik individu dan pekerjaan, OFER, PSQI, NASA-TLX, dan persepsi terhadap
lingkungan kerja. Terdapat 136 data responden yang dianalisis menggunakan analisis
deskriptif dan inferensial dengan uji chi-square. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa
56.6% pekerja mengalami kelelahan kronik dan 79.4% kelelahan akut. Hasil
menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara faktor risiko terkait kerja
yaitu masa kerja (p value = 0.047), lingkungan kerja bising (p value = 0.033) dan faktor
risiko tidak terkait kerja, yaitu kualitas tidur (p value = 0.044) dengan kelelahan kronik.
Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara faktor risiko
terkait kerja yaitu beban kerja (p value = 0.033) dengan pemulihan kelelahan.
Fatigue is a multifactorial problem experienced by workers in the manufacturing sector and has an impact on work accidents, health, and the economy. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with fatigue in sales workers of manufacturing companies at PT X in 2025. The risk factors studied include work-related risk factors (duration of work, length of service, workload, rest time, commuting time, and work environment) and non work-related risk factors (age, nutritional status, sleep quantity, sleep quality, alcohol consumption, and caffeine consumption). This study used a cross-sectional study design conducted from February to June 2025. Data were collected through online questionnaires, including individual and job characteristics questionnaires, OFER, PSQI, NASA-TLX, and perceptions of work environment. 136 respondent data analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis with the chi-square test. The results of the analysis showed that 56.6% of workers experienced chronic fatigue and 79.4% acute fatigue. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between work-related risk factors, namely work period (p value = 0.047), noisy work environment (p value = 0.033) and non-work-related risk factors, namely sleep quality (p value = 0.044) with chronic fatigue. The results also showed that there was a significant relationship between work-related risk factors, namely workload (p value = 0.033) with fatigue recovery.
Kegiatan transportasi batu bara memiliki potensi bahaya dan risiko terjadinya kecelakaan. Faktor manusia seperti kelelahan (fatigue) dan mengantuk (sleepiness) telah menjadi perhatian utama sebagai penyebab terjadinya kecelakaan. Hal ini terlihat dari tingginya kasus kecelakaan di jalur hauling akibat mengantuk dan/atau kelelahan pada pengemudi dump truck PT. X Distrik KCMB tahun 2007-2011. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor internal (usia, kuantitas tidur, masa kerja) dan eksternal (shift kerja, pola kerja, durasi mengemudi) dengan tingkat kantuk (sleepiness) dan kelelahan (fatigue) pada pengemudi dump truck PT. X Distrik KCMB tahun 2012. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan April-Mei 2012 di jalur hauling PT. X Distrik KCMB, Kalimantan Selatan. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 60 orang. Penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif observasional dan menggunakan desain studi cross sectional. Tingkat kantuk (sleepiness) diukur secara subjektif dengan menggunakan kuesioner The Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 6,7% responden diindikasikan memiliki tingkat kantuk berlebih (excessive daytime somnolence). Sedangkan tingkat kelelahan (fatigue) diukur secara subjektif dengan menggunakan kuesioner The Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 31,7% responden memiliki tingkat keparahan kelelahan yang signifikan. Rata-rata tingkat kantuk tertinggi yang diukur dengan menggunakan kuesioner The Wits SleepWake Skale terjadi pada periode Pukul 04.01-05.00 WITA. Sedangkan gejala kelelahan paling banyak dirasakan pada akhir shift yang diukur dengan menggunakan kuesioner RCIF Fatigue Scale adalah letih pada kaki. Hasil uji statistik menujukkan hasil bahwa hanya durasi mengemudi yang memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan tingkat kantuk (sleepiness) dan hanya pola kerja yang memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan tingkat kelelahan (fatigue). Durasi mengemudi >9 jam mempunyai peluang 12,3 kali diindikasikan memiliki tingkat kantuk berlebih jika dibandingkan dengan pengemudi dengan durasi mengemudi ≤9 jam. Pola kerja 13 hari kerja 1 hari off adalah variabel yang paling dominan berhubungan dengan tingkat keparahan kelelahan jika dibandingkan dengan pola kerja yang lain. Pola kerja 13 hari kerja 1 hari off mempunyai peluang 0,2 kali untuk mengalami tingkat keparahan kelelahan yang signifikan dibandingkan dengan pola kerja 6 hari kerja 1 hari off.
Abstract Coal transportation activities has potential dangers and risks of accidents. Human factors such as tiredness (fatigue) and somnolence (sleepiness) has become a major concern as the cause of the accident. It is seen from the high incidence of accidents due to sleepiness hauling lines and / or dump truck driver fatigue on PT. District X KCMB years 2007-2011. This study aims to determine the relationship of internal factors (age, quantity of sleep, period of employment) and external (shift work, work patterns, duration of driving) to the level of sleepiness (sleepiness) and tiredness (fatigue) on the dump truck driver PT. X District KCMB 2012. The research was conducted in April-May 2012 in line hauling PT. X KCMB District, South Kalimantan. Number of respondents in this study is 60 people. This study uses quantitative observational and cross sectional study design. The level of sleepiness (sleepiness) was measured subjectively using the Epworth Sleepiness Scale The questionnaire (ESS) and the results showed that 6.7% of respondents indicated having excess levels of sleepiness (excessive daytime somnolence). While the level of fatigue (fatigue) was measured subjectively using the Fatigue Severity Scale questionnaire (FSS) and the results showed that 31.7% of respondents have a significant level of fatigue severity. Average of the highest level of sleepiness as measured using the questionnaire The Wits SleepWake Skale occurred in the period 04:01 to 05:00 o'clock pm. While the most widely perceived symptoms of fatigue at the end of shift is measured using a questionnaire RCIF Fatigue Scale was tired in the legs. The results of the statistical test results showed that only duration of driving which have significant relationship with the level of sleepiness (sleepiness) and only the work patterns that have a significant relationship with levels of fatigue (fatigue). Driving duration> 9 hours had 12.3 times the odds have indicated excessive levels of sleepiness when compared with drivers with a duration of ≤ 9 hours driving. Work pattern 13 days working a day off is the most dominant variables associated with the severity of fatigue when compared with other working patterns. Work pattern 13 days working a day off to have 0.2 times the chance to experience significant fatigue severity compared with the pattern of six days of work a day off.
