Disparities in maternal health services are still a problem in Indonesia. The K4 coverage of Antenatal Care (ANC) program from 2012 to 2017 has decreased. However, it shows that the K4 ANC coverage has begun to meet the Ministry of Health Strategic Plan target in 2017. Based on data from the IDHS and the Indonesian Health Profile, it stated that some regions in Eastern Indonesia are still facing this problem. Papua, West Papua, Maluku and North Maluku itself are some provinces are always in top 10 provinces with the lowest K4 ANC coverage. The four provinces also had never met the targets of the Ministry of Health Strategic Plan since 2007, 2012, and 2017. This study aims to look at the factors that influence the level of ANC visit adherence in reproductive age women in 4 Provinces in 2012 & 2017. The sample is used in this study are the women in reproductive age in the 2012 & 2017 IDHS that are living in 4 provinces, married or are living together with their partner, and have their in the last 5 years. The number of samples in the study were 1,001 respondents in the 2012 IDHS & 1,167 respondents in the 2017 IDHS. This study itself use chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that maternal education and maternal knowledge had a consistent influence on the adherence of ANC visits for respondents in 2012 and 2017. In 2012, there are other factors that also affected ANC visit adherence in reproductive age women, namely participation in decision making and economic status. Whereas in 2017, there are also other factors that influence ANC visits adherence to reproductive age women, namely health insurance, parity, and husband support.

Stigma against abortion has limited the study of abortion in several countries including Indonesia. This study aims to get a picture of the structural determinants of women who had abortion. This study utilized data from community-based survey of 8,969 randomly selected women aged 15-49 in six provinces in Java. Structural Equation Modeling Analysis was used to get an overview of the structural determinants of women who had abortion based on the concept of Integrated Behavioral Model Theory. Model fit with RMSEA value = 0.037; CFI = 0.924, and SRMR = 0.048. Intention shows the biggest direct effect on abortion. The experience of physical and sexual violence, the attitude toward the impact of ending pregnancy, and lack of contraception knowledge have a direct effect on increasing the intention to have an abortion. Reducing contraceptive failure rates and increasing the use of LARC will reduce unwanted pregnancies and abortion incidence. Communication program, increasing awareness of the dangers and impacts, community participation, and social media need to be increased in efforts to prevent and overcome the problem of IPV.
Background: The family planning program has a history of success in increasing the use of modern contraceptives within a relatively short period, rising from 10% in the early 1970s to around 60% in the early 2000s. However, during that period up to 2017, there was a shift in the dominant contraceptive methods used by women of reproductive age—from a variety of methods to a dominance of non-long-acting and permanent methods (non-LARCs), particularly injectable contraceptives. Method: The proportion of long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) use among women of reproductive age in Indonesia in this study reached 28.8%. The multivariable analysis showed that several variables were statistically associated with LARC use, including age, respondent’s education, respondent’s employment status, parity, economic status, administrative region, partner’s education, and FP counseling. Results: Women with a secondary education level are more likely to use long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARCs). This is because, at this level of education, women tend to better understand information regarding the benefits of LARCs and have greater capacity in making decisions related to contraception. Therefore, improving access to and the quality of information may serve as an effective strategy to promote broader use of LARCs. Conclusion: The higher the level of education attained by a woman, the greater her likelihood of using long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARCs). This is because women at this education level tend to understand information about the benefits of LARCs more easily and have greater capacity in making decisions related to contraception. Therefore, improving access to and the quality of information can be an effective strategy to encourage wider use of LARCs.
Introduction: Babies with LBW are 4 times more likely to die during the first 28 days
of life than babies born with normal weight. In Indonesia, LBW is the second largest
type of disease related to tobacco use where the impact is a very determining factor in
adulthood. More than 57% in a household has at least one smoker where 91.8% smoke
in the household and ignore the risks and dangers of exposure to cigarette smoke.
Method: This research was conducted in all regions of Indonesia using Riskesdas 2018
results with the aim of knowing the effect of exposure to cigarette smoke in the
household on the incidence of Low Birth Weight (LBW) in Indonesia after being
controlled by baby (sex), maternal factors (level maternal education, maternal
employment status, and tuberculosis to the mother), health service factors (frequency
and quality of ANC) and environmental factors (residential area). This research was
conducted with cross-sectional design and logistic and poisson regression analysis.
Result: The results of the study with the final model of smoking behavior interacting
with gender and controlled by variables of maternal education level and frequency of
ANC in general showed that there was no effect of cigarette smoke exposure in
households with LBW events (although p value in female sex with exposure cigarette
smoke b 20btg less than 0.05, but OR 0.056 or protective).
Discussion: Based on the results of this study and a few reviews of the results of the
research that are in line concluded that birth weight is not solely influenced by a history
of exposure to cigarette smoke, but in certain conditions there are other factors that may
be more dominant. In this case it might be due to several factors such as the way data is
collected based only on interviews / questionnaires so that the measurement of cigarette
smoke exposure in the household is less able to describe the actual situation (the
measurement results are weak).
Conclution: Based on the analysis that has been used both using logistic regression
methods and poisson is that the results of this study have not been able to answer the
hypothesis that the effect of cigarette smoke exposure in households increases the
incidence of LBW in Indonesia in 2018 even after being controlled by covariate
variables
