PT X is a chemical manufacturing and distribution company with the majority of its employees based at the Jakarta head office, spanning both the Corporate and Distribution divisions. Daily operations are dominated by computer-based administrative and managerial tasks involving prolonged digital device use, high data accuracy demands, and responsibility for meeting operational targets as well as overseeing subsidiary entities. This combination of intensive screen exposure and cognitive workload potentially increases the risk of visual display terminal (VDT)-related visual disturbances. Meanwhile, the current occupational health program remains limited to structural visual acuity examinations and has not specifically addressed Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) symptoms. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with CVS occurrence among head-office workers at PT X in 2026. This observational study adopted a cross-sectional design involving 140 head-office workers at PT X as respondents. Data were collected using the online CVS-Q questionnaire to measure CVS symptoms, complemented by local lighting intensity measurements. The Chi-square test was performed to analyze the associations of individual, computer-device, and work-environment variables with CVS occurrence. The results revealed that 60 workers (42.9%) experienced CVS, while 80 workers (57.1%) were asymptomatic. The most frequently reported complaints were dry eyes (52.1%), followed by headache (47.1%), blurred vision (45.0%), watery eyes (43.6%), and itchy eyes (38.5%). Bivariate analysis showed that refractive error (p=0.009), duration of computer use (p=0.010), and monitor position (p=0.033) were significantly associated with CVS. Among these three factors, uncorrected refractive error demonstrated the strongest association with CVS complaints. Conversely, sex, use of visual aids, eye-rest patterns, viewing distance, and lighting intensity showed no significant association. Therefore, CVS prevention strategies among office workers should not rely solely on ergonomic improvements but must be integrated with the early detection of refractive disorders. This comprehensive approach can serve as a foundation for PT X to develop employee eye-health policies, particularly for a workforce with demanding administrative and operational oversight duties.
