In 2010, hypertension was one of the risk factors for death globally and it estimated to have caused 9.4 million deaths. In Indonesia, based on data from IFLS 5, in 2014 the prevalence of hypertension stage 1 at the age of ≥18 years was 15.59%. The majority of Banjar Ethnic who are domiciled in South Kalimantan (65%) have the potential to suffer from hypertension stage 1 with reference to the Riskesdas 2013 which has a prevalence of hypertension of 30.8%. The prevalence of hypertension in Bali Province is 19.9%, which is occupied by the majority of the Bali Ethnic (84%). This difference in prevalence encouraged researchers to find out the differences in risk factors for hypertension stage 1 in the Banjar and Bali Ethnic. This study used a cross sectional design. Data from IFLS 5 in 2014. A total of 765 respondents from the Banjar ethnic and 1,087 respondents from the Bali ethnic aged ≥18 years were sampled in this study. Data were analyzed using cox regression test. Prevalence hypertension stage 1 in Banjar Ethnic and Bali Ethnic are 17,3% and 10,8%, respectively. Risk factors of hypertension stage 1 in Banjar Etnic are obesity (PR=2,726; 95%CI; 1,913-3,886), age ≥45 years (PR=2,146; 95%CI;1,482- 3,107) and male (PR=1,641; 95%CI;1,149-2,344). Risk factors of hypertension stage 1 in Bali Ethnic are obesity (PR=2,971; 95%CI;2,025-4,362), age ≥45 years (PR=2,144; 95%CI;1,465-3,136), male (PR=1,985; 95%CI;1,341-2,938), low education (PR=1,585; 95%CI;1,076-2,334) and urban (PR=1,525; 95%CI;1,051-2,212). The need for optimization of prevention and early detection activities to reduce the prevalence of hypertension in the Banjar and Bali Ethnic.

Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in children under five years old (toddlers) due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections, especially in the period of the First 1000 Days of life (HPK). Kerinci Regency has the second highest stunting percentage in Jambi Province in 2019 at 42.4%, while the highest stunting incidence rate in Kerinci Regency is in Siulak Mukai Subdistrict at 44.32%, the villages that are the study sites are Tebing Tinggi Village and Siulak Mukai Village in May-June 2020. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the role of cultural aspects and cultural elements in the occurrence of stunting in Baduta in the Kerinci tribe, Jambi. This research was qualitative with phenomenology approach. The main informants in this study were 5 mothers who had poorly educated stunts and 5 mothers who had high-educated stunts and 10 mothers with high educated stunted toddlers. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews and document review. The results of the study revealed the existence of traditions / habits that have a negative impact, the existence of fatalistic behavior, the existence of values / norms in terms of beliefs that have a negative impact, the lack of knowledge and not get family support in terms of exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, hygiene and sanitation behavior and utilization of health services in the event of stunting. Suggestions for regular outreach and outreach to the community and in partnership with community leaders and traditional healers to provide education about stunting, exclusive breastfeeding, provision of varied MP-ASI, hygiene and sanitation behavior and the importance of utilizing health services such as integrated health center.
Factors associated with health literacy among first year students of Universitas Andalas in West Sumatra Health literacy is the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information services needed to improve and maintain health; however, study around health literacy is limited among Indonesian population, including among those with higher educational status. This research aimed to assess factors associated with health literacy among first year students of Universitas Andalas. Data came from the Indonesian Health Literacy Study 2019, focusing on samples of first year students from 15 faculties of the Universitas Andalas (n=363). Health literacy was measured using the European Health Literacy Survey Question 16 (HLS-EU-Q16), tat had been adapted into Indonesian context. Among all respondents, the average score of health literacy was 2,90 (SD=0,49). Factors associated with health literacy were access to health information, ethnic identity, and access to health services. Required for increasing individual health through social media for sharing information, educative intervention in improving health literacy skill.
The low number of deliveries in health facilities and assisted by health workers in the Rakit Kulim sub-district. The research objective was to obtain in-depth information about the description of childbirth practices in the Talang Mamak tribe house. The qualitative research method uses the phenomenology approach by conducting in-depth interviews with 6 informants, 2 base informants and 7 key informants. The results of the study were obtained from the practice of childbirth at the Talang Mamak tribe house, among others: cultural practices during childbirth and postpartum: cultural practices that endanger childbirth at home such as less suitable places / spaces for delivery, cleanliness of the tools used during childbirth, methods used, birth attendants untrained, abstinence from food for postpartum mothers, and provision of food for newborns, while the cultural practices of childbirth and postpartum culture that support home births are among other things; placenta care, postpartum care with herbs and use of barots; low knowledge of mothers about the danger signs of childbirth and childbirth which is influenced by low levels of education and lack of information obtained by mothers; Low perceptions of mothers about childbirth and childbirth are risky because they think that childbirth is a natural process for a mother; the high level of mother's trust in the dukun because of her experience, hereditary traditions, her belief in unseen things, the services she provides and is a person who has been known to her for a long time; physical accessibility to the utilization of health services that is not far away can be achieved by two-wheeled impetus and cheap transportation costs; economic accessibility to the utilization of health services where most mothers are housewives, the decision is taken by birth mothers and the costs of childbirth and postpartum are not a problem; In health facilities, there are differences in the services provided during childbirth and postpartum. Conclusion: The factors that influence the practice of childbirth in the Talang Mamak tribe house are cultural practices of childbirth and postpartum; knowledge of the danger signs of childbirth; perceptions of risky labor and childbirth; trust in dukuns, while those that do not affect: physical accessibility to the use of health services; economic accessibility to the utilization of health services; and health facilities. The importance of making efforts to improve health services by taking into account the factors that can affect the utilization of health services.
Body height, weight and BMI are three important anthropometric components in medical fields, nutritional care and in describing the prevalence of risk factors in the population. However, a person with disabilities, bed rest patient and obesity adult can rsquo t be measured directly so that another anthropometric measurements alternatives are needed using other body parts. Indonesia has 250 ethnics with different characterictics and research on prediction models based on Indonesian ethnics are still limited. Therefore the aim of this research is to produce prediction models of height, weight and BMI in young adults Javanese, Madurese and Using.
view Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) in Pregnancy, Delivery, and Postpartumat Tebo, Jambi 2018Maternal mortality rate among Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) is very high. Every year from 2012to 2017 there is one maternal death. The main cause is bleeding and infection, indirect cause is a culturalfactor where labor is helped by traditional birth attendants (TBA) and place of birth in the lodge. Theobjective of the study was to photograph the harmony of the role of midwives and TBA in the view ofSAD during pregnancy, maternity, and childbirth. Qualitative research method with ethnographyapproach. The results showed that there were three SAD activities during pregnancy, maternity, andchildbirth, namely self-care and how to prevent the occurrence of danger of pregnancy, maternity, andchildbirth, the selection of rescue workers, as well as ritual ceremonies, dominant things that affectactivities during pregnancy, maternity, and childbirth are past experiences, current feelings, suggestionsand abstinences, centers of decision-making power. SAD states that midwives have only positiveattention in providing health services, whereas TBA are able to provide three core elements of relief.Midwives say Difficult to communicate and rarely interact with SAD, while TBA are able tocommunicate and interact well with SAD. TBA claim SAD has adherence to tradition in helper election,while midwife keeps distance with SAD.
