In the era of digital transformation in the workplace, technology has evolved in the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to create a safe and productive work environment while preventing occupational accidents and diseases. The application of OHS technologies, such as wearable devices, virtual reality (VR), and digital reporting systems that has been widely adopted in safety training and management programs. The effective use of such technologies requires understanding and acceptance from workers, which may vary across generations. This study aims to compare and analyze the factors influencing differences in OHS perceptions and the adaptation of OHS technology in the workplace among Generation Z, Generation Y, and Seniors (Generation X and Baby Boomers). A mixed methods approach was employed, beginning with a questionnaire distributed across generational groups, followed by in-depth interviews with selected respondents. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, which revealed significant differences in intergenerational collaboration. However, no significant differences were found in OHS perceptions, attitudes, or technology adaptation across generations. Interview results indicated that Generation Z tends to adapt more quickly to OHS technologies compared to other generations. Therefore, it is important for workers to participate in training, and for workplaces to support the adaptation of OHS technology through communication and training strategies tailored to the characteristics of each generation.
Paparan terhadap bahan kimia dan faktor fisika di lingkungan kerja manufaktur herbisida berpotensi menimbulkan risiko kesehatan serius jika tidak dilakukan pengendalian secara sistematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan Health Risk Assessment (HRA) terhadap bahaya kimia dan fisika yang dihadapi oleh pekerja di area produksi, packaging, dan gudang pada industri manufaktur herbisida, dengan pendekatan berbasis Similar Exposure Group (SEG). Metode yang digunakan mengacu pada kerangka kerja ISO 31000:2018 dan praktik rekomendasi HRA dari otoritas internasional. Data diperoleh melalui dokumen pemantauan lingkungan kerja, SDS, OHSERA, dan wawancara dengan pemangku kepentingan. Risiko dinilai menggunakan matriks semi-kuantitatif berdasarkan skor likelihood dan severity, dengan validasi keparahan kesehatan merujuk pada referensi seperti ACGIH dan literatur ilmiah terkini. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa SEG Proses menghadapi risiko tinggi dari paparan Monoisopropylamine (MIPA) dan Kalium Hidroksida (KOH), sedangkan SEG Packaging dan Warehouse memiliki risiko signifikan akibat kebisingan, getaran, panas, serta uap bahan kimia volatil. Evaluasi existing control menunjukkan pengendalian belum optimal dalam menurunkan risiko ke tingkat rendah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penguatan pengendalian teknis dan administratif, seperti ventilasi lokal, rotasi kerja, penggunaan alat pelindung diri yang sesuai, serta pengaturan waktu kerja-istirahat, diperlukan untuk menurunkan risiko residual. Penilaian risiko berbasis SEG terbukti efektif dalam memetakan prioritas pengendalian dan memberikan dasar yang kuat untuk pengambilan keputusan K3 di industri sejenis.
Exposure to chemical agents and physical hazards in herbicide manufacturing environments poses serious health risks if not managed systematically. This study aims to conduct a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) of chemical and physical hazards encountered by workers in the production, packaging, and warehouse areas of a herbicide manufacturing industry, using a Similar Exposure Group (SEG) approach. The methodology follows the ISO 31000:2018 risk management framework and international best practices for occupational health risk assessment. Data were obtained through environmental monitoring reports, safety data sheets (SDS), OHSERA records, and interviews with relevant stakeholders. Risks were assessed using a semi-quantitative matrix based on likelihood and severity scores, with health severity validation referring to ACGIH and recent peer-reviewed scientific literature. The findings indicate that the Process SEG faces high risks from exposure to Monoisopropylamine (MIPA) and Potassium Hydroxide (KOH), while the Packaging and Warehouse SEGs are significantly affected by noise, vibration, heat, and volatile chemical vapors. Evaluation of existing controls reveals that current measures are not sufficiently effective in reducing risks to acceptable levels. The study concludes that stronger technical and administrative controls—such as local exhaust ventilation, work rotation, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and regulated work-rest schedules—are essential to achieve low residual risks. Risk assessment based on SEGs has proven effective in mapping control priorities and provides a solid foundation for occupational health and safety decision-making in similar industrial settings.
MCU data show the presence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease in PT X employees who need attention so that prevented the incidence of cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health promotion intervention on cardiovascular disease risk factors in gold mine worker PT X in Pandeglang 2017.The research design was quasi experimental with pre and post test controlled group design with 2 groups ie workshop and flyer group and flyer group.The results showed significant differences before and after intervention of health promotion programs on blood pressure, BMI, blood glucose, physical actifity, but there were no significant differences before and after intervention of health promotion program on score smoking. The company is advised to develop a comprehensive health promotion program in accordance with Ottawa Charter.
Fatigue is one of the cause of accidents. The objective of this study is to examineacute fatigue potential based on a Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery(OFER) scale and types of heavy equipment, analyze the relationship betweenwork-related fatigue (duration, workload and shift work), response to non-work-related fatigue (age, nutritional status, commuting time, the number of hours ofsleep) with the occurrence of fatigue on heavy equipment operator. This researchwas conducted from April until July 2016 at heavy equipment operator in themine area 1 Bukit Karang Putih. Number of study respondents 50 people. Thestudy is observational quantitative research with cross-sectional method.Measurement of fatigue using a OFER scale and the results show that 48% ofrespondents experiencing moderate acute fatigue, 44% of dump truckexperiencing high acute fatigue, shift has significant correlation with high andmoderate acute fatigue potential (p value = 0.027). recomendation to company PTSemen Padang to provide education or training about risk factor fatigue to heavyequipment operator.Keywords:Acute fatigue, Heavy Equipment Operator Fatigue, OFER Scale, Shift
ABSTRAK Nama : MOCHAMAD FEBIYANTO Program Studi : Magister Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja Judul : Analisis Profil Persepsi Risiko Supir (operator) Truk Angkut Batubara di PT X Tahun 2017 Sebagian besar kecelakaan di jalan angkut batubara perusahaan pertambangan PT X pada tahun 2016 melibatkan supir (operator) truk angkut batubara yang penyebab utamanya adalah tindakan tidak aman dari supir. Tindakan tidak aman ini dipengaruhi oleh persepsi risiko yang dimiliki oleh supir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis dan melihat profil persepsi risiko supir (operator) truk angkut batubara terhadap faktor penyebab kecelakaan di PT X tahun 2017. Pengukuran profil persepsi risiko menggunakan 6 dimensi psikometri, yaitu kesukarelaan terhadap risiko, kesegeraan akibat, pengetahuan tentang risiko, pengendalian risiko, ketakutan, dan keparahan akibat. Data dikumpulkan dari 121 partisipan yang berasal dari 6 perusahaan jasa pertambangan kontraktor PT X yang melakukan kegiatan pengangkutan batubara. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan supir (operator) truk angkut batubara di PT X memiliki persepsi risiko yang baik pada 5 dimensi dari 6 dimensi psikometri yang diukur, sehingga secara umum profil persepsi risiko supir adalah baik. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan usia memberikan perbedaan yang bermakna pada nilai rata-rata persepsi risiko dimensi pengetahuan tentang risiko, ketakutan, dan keparahan akibat. Sedangkan lama masa kerja dan asal perusahaan tidak memberikan perbedaan yang bermakna pada nilai rata-rata persepsi risiko. Kata kunci: Persepsi risiko; psikometri; pertambangan; supir truk
ABSTRACT Name : MOCHAMAD FEBIYANTO Study Program : Magister Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja Title : Risk Perception Analysis of Coal Haul Truck Drivers at PT X Year 2017 Most of the accidents on PT X's coal haul roads in 2016 involve coal haul truck drivers whose main cause is the unsafe act of the drivers. This unsafe act is influenced by the risk perception that the driver has. This study aims to analyze and see the profile of the risk perception of coal haul truck drivers to the factors that cause accidents in PT X year 2017. Measurement of risk perception profile using 6 dimensions of psychometric, namely voluntariness of risk, immediacy of effect, knowledge about risk, control over risk, common-dread, and severity of consequences. Data were collected from 121 participants from 6 mining service contractors PT X who conducted coal hauling activities. The results of this study indicate that the coal hauling truck drivers in PT X has a good risk perception on the 5 dimensions of the six dimensions of the measured psychometry, so that in general the risk perception profile of the driver is good. The study also showed age to have significant differences in the risk perception’s mean value of knowledge about risk, common-dread, and severity of consequences. While the work experience and the origin of the company does not provide a meaningful difference in the mean value of risk perception.
