The spread of COVID-19 infection in Indonesia is still ongoing. Community compliance in implementing physical distancing policies is one of the keys to suppressing the spread of COVID-19 infection. The purpose of this study is to determine variables related to compliance with physical distancing policies in Depok City. This research is a quantitative study with cross-sectional design and obtained 296 respondents from Depok City using purposive sampling method. Data collection was obtained through an online questionnaire distributed to social media (Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter) and consisted of three-part questionnaire containing variables: individual characteristics (age, gender, educations, occupation), knowledge of COVID-19, and compliance to physical distancing policy. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. More than 50% respondents in Depok City comply with the implementation of physical distancing, the majority are dominated by female respondents, aged 15-25 years, have a high level of education, and good knowledge about COVID-19 with status as workers/students. The result showed that three of five variables had a significant relationship with physical distancing compliance including gender p=0,038), education (p=0,001), and knowledge (p=0,028). Physical distancing health protocols still need to be implemented for the entire community as an effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
The spread of COVID-19 can occur in various places, especially places that are gathering places. To avoid the spread of COVID-19, health protocols are made. In its application, the behavior of health protocols is influenced by the level of knowledge and attitudes that a person has. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of students with the incidence of COVID-19 in students at Boarding School X, Serang, Banten. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design. Data collection was carried out using an online questionnaire, the data collected was data related to age, gender, education level, level of knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and the incidence of COVID-19 experienced by respondents. The results of this study are that the majority of students who are respondents have a low level of knowledge (71.9%), negative attitudes (51.3%), and bad behavior (53.2%) towards COVID-19, and most of the students have been confirmed COVID-19 (88%). Statistically, there is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge (p value 1,000), attitude (p value 0.855), and behavior (p value 1,000) with the incidence of COVID-19 because p value > 0.05. The conclusion in this study is that the level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior are not related to the incidence of COVID-19.
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito. The main vectors that transmit the dengue virus are Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. The city with the highest number of dengue cases in Indonesia in 2021 is Depok City with 3,155 cases with an Incidence Rate (IR) of 151.2 cases per 100,000 population. During the last 10 years from 2012-2020, the trend of dengue cases in Depok City tends to increase. Objective: To determine the relationship between climatic factors and population density with the incidence of DHF in Depok City in 2012-2021. Methods: This study uses an ecological study with correlation analysis to see the relationship between climatic factors (temperature, humidity, and rainfall) in the same month (non-time lag), climatic factors with a 1-month lag (time lag 1), and density population with DHF Incidence Rate. Results: The correlation analysis results showed a significant relationship between non-time lag humidity and time lag 1 humidity with DHF Incidence Rate (p = 0.000 and p = 0.000) with the strength of the relationship being positive (r = 0.332 and r-0.451). The results of the multiple linear regression test produce a predictive model with the equation IR DBD = -47.353 + 0.784 (Temperature) + 0.394 (Relative Humidity) + 0.023 (Rainfall). Based on the results of the regression equation, if it is simulated with a combination of the temperature of 26,1oC, humidity of 82.9%, and rainfall of 14.9 mm, there will be an increase in IR of DHF by 10 cases per 100,000 population.
Tuberculosis is still the main cause of death worldwide, including Indonesia as the 3rd country with the highest number of tuberculosis sufferers in the world. Meanwhile, at the provincial level, Depok City is in 11th place with the largest contributor to tuberculosis cases in West Java Province. This study aims to determine the relationship between healthy homes, TB treatment coverage, and TB treatment success rates with the Incidence Rate (IR) tuberculosis in Depok City in 2021. This study uses an ecological study design based on place with a population of all communities recorded in 11 sub-districts in Depok. Depok City, which was diagnosed with tuberculosis. The results of the study through the correlation test showed that the independent variables that had a significant relationship with the Incidence Rate (IR) of tuberculosis is treatment coverage in Bojongsari District (p = 0.000). Meanwhile, the results of the correlation test between healthy home coverage, TB treatment coverage, and TB treatment success rates in Depok City showed an insignificant relationship. The results of other analyzes showed that the coverage of healthy homes in Depok City had a weak negative correlation (r = -0.173), TB treatment coverage had a weak positive correlation (r = 0.184), and the success rate of TB treatment had a strong negative correlation (r = -0.584).
The waste management problem in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta had become a serious challenge along with population growth, urbanization, and increasing public consumption. Data from the National Waste Management Information System in 2024 showed that the volume of waste in Jakarta had reached 3,171,247.60 tons per year, with food waste as the main component (49.87%). The low level of public awareness and participation in waste management had caused most waste to be poorly managed. On the other hand, social media had become an essential part of people’s daily lives, with an access rate of 77.28% in Jakarta. Platforms such as social media Y and Z, which were used by more than 100 million users in Indonesia, had great potential to convey environmental messages and encourage behavior change through visual strength, broad reach, and high interaction. This study employed a cross-sectional design using an online survey involving 415 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test), and multivariate (multiple logistic regression) analyses. The bivariate analysis results showed that educational background, exposure to content on social media Y and Z, green influencers, availability of waste management facilities, and pro-environmental attitudes were significantly related to waste management behavior, while age, gender, and perception were not significantly associated. The multivariate analysis indicated that exposure to content on social media Y and Z was the most dominant factor influencing waste management behavior. These findings suggested that the optimization of social media Y and Z as educational media for waste management should be continuously enhanced to promote better public behavior in managing waste.
The associations between respiratory and cardiovascular health outcomes with air quality have been well examined. Less conclusive are the studies assessing the relationship between air quality and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), a mosquito-borne illness which remains a public health problem worldwide. We examined this relationship in DKI Jakarta, Indonesia, where the burden of DHF is among the highest across South-East Asian region. We analyzed the correlation between dengue incidence rate and variations in air pollution, wind speed, vegetation greenness, and population density in DKI Jakarta from 2019 to 2023 using the ecological study method. The results indicated that poorer air quality was generally associated with lower dengue incidence rate, as shown in the correlation, Kruskal-Wallis test, and regression tests. Wind speed, population density, and green open space area showed significant negative relationships with dengue incidence rate across most areas in DKI Jakarta. In the spatial analysis, dengue incidence rate tended to be higher in areas with high air pollution, low green vegetation, and high population density, while wind speed showed variability and did not indicate a consistent pattern. Variations in the concentrations of these air pollutants may inform short-term DHF forecasts by the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG)
The COVID-19 pandemic have an impact on the environment, especially is the generation of mask waste. Mask waste can carry pathogens and pollute the environment with microplastics. Mask waste management can be carried out by the community to reduce this impact. Mask waste management behavior can be influenced by several factors. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, and media exposure to community behavior in managing mask waste. This research used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design. Data collection was carried out using an online questionnaire. Respondents in this study were dominated by people in the age range of 18-24 years old, female, and residing in Jabodetabek. The results obtained were that most respondents had high knowledge (56.8%), had been exposed to information media (71.5%), and had good behavior (55.8%) towards mask waste management. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between media exposure (p=0.000) and gender (0.006) with community behavior in managing mask waste in households. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the media exposure variable was the most dominant variable with Exp(β)=2.333 p=0.0001 (OR=2.333, 95% CI=1.496-3.638). Finally, this study shows that gender and media exposure are associated with people’s behavior in household mask waste management.
