Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) is proven to be the best food a mother can give to her child during the first 6 months. The low prevalence of EBF in Indonesia needs to be a concern given the many health risk of not breastfeeding exclusively, such as delayed growth, threatened health, and infant mortality. Various factors were found to be determinants in the practice of exclusive breastfeeding. This study was conducted to identify the dominant factor associated with 6-month EBF among children aged 6-23 months in Indonesia. The design used in this study is cross-sectional using IFLS-5 2014-2015 as a secondary data with a sample of 1550 children aged 6-23 months. Data were analyzed using chi square test dan multiple logistic regression test. The result found the prevalence of 5-month EBF was 24,9%. Bivariate analysis found several factors that were significantly related to EBF, which are maternal age, maternal education, birth weight, place of delivery, birth attendant, and ANC visits. The factors of employment status, marital status, parity, knowledge related to EBF, gender, area of residence, and PNC visits were not found to be significantly related to EBF practice in this study. The result of multivariate analysis showed maternal age as the dominant factor of EBF practice in mothers with children aged 6-23 months in Indonesia with an OR of 2,13. This study shows that optimizing breastfeeding practices at reproductive age can increase the success of 6-month EBF up to 2,1 times. Minimum dietary diversity (MDD) is an indicator to measure the micronutrient density of children aged 6-23 months, which can be associated with nutritional problems. This study aims to analyze the determinants of not meeting the criteria of Minimum Dietary Diversity (MDD) in children aged 6 – 23 months in Indonesia. The design of study was cross sectional with a total sample of 10,800 children obtained from total sampling methods based on inclusion and exclusion criteria using secondary data from the Riskesdas 2018. The results of bivariate analysis showed a significant association between children's age (p < 0.0005), mother’s age (p = 0,01), mother's education level (p < 0.0005), father's education level (p < 0.0005), ANC frequency (p < 0.0005), place of delivery (p < 0.0005), PNC services (p < 0.0005), place of residence (p < 0.0005), and monitoring of children's growth (p < 0.0005) on MDD in children aged 6-23 months. Meanwhile, the results of the multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant factor in the achievement of MDD was the age of the child with p value < 0.0005 (aOR = 2.762, 95% CI: 2.507 – 3.043). The results of this study are expected to become an evidence based in the formulation of nutrition policies and programs, especially those related to IYCF.
Exclusive breastfeeding protects against stunting in children under five, has a better impact on infant growth in the first six months, and shows higher IQ points than those who do not receive exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to determine the factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding in West Java Province in 2018. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design approach. The data used is the 2018 Riskesdas data obtained from the Balitbangkes Data Management laboratory of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The population of this study amounted to 604 mothers who had babies aged 6-11 months the research sample was those who had history of breastfeeding as the dependent variable of the study as many as 601. The results showed that 29.8% of mothers gave exclusive breastfeeding for six months. Multivariate analysis showed that the variable associated with exclusive breastfeeding was Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (p=0.010; OR=2.204) after being controlled by the variable frequency of ANC and counseling. The most dominant variable related to exclusive breastfeeding is Early Initiation of Breastfeeding, mothers who do Early Initiation of Breastfeeding have the opportunity to give Exclusive Breastfeeding as much as 2,204 times compared to mothers who do not initiate Early Breastfeeding. Suggestion: Increase education activities for pregnant women and prospective mothers about Early Initiation of Breastfeeding and the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding through Posyandu and synergize with cross-sectors

Totalrespondents of this study were 1,270 children aged 24-59 months who lived in JavaIsland. Z-scores for weight-for-age was determined and classified using WHOAnthroPlus software, while SPSS software was used to process the data. This studyfound that 20.2% children in Java were underweight. Variables that significantlyassociated (p-value <0,05) with underweight were LBW, ARI, diarrhea, frequency ofeating milk and its products, education level of father and mother, and underweightfather. While gender, gestational age, basic immunization, anemia status, exclusivebreastfeeding history, other eating frequencies, maternal nutritional status, smokinghabits of fathers and mothers, and area of residence were not significantly associatedwith underweight (p-value >0,05). Based on multivariat analysis, low frequency ofeating milk and dairy product was the dominant factor in this study (OR=1,798).Key words:children under five; food consumption; IFLS 2014; Indonesia; underweight.
