Hypertension has become the most common non-communicable disease globally. It is estimated that around 40% of the world's population has hypertension. Emotional stress is one of its modifiable risk factors. In productive age individuals, most of their time is spent at work so they are very vulnerable to being exposed to occupational stress which in a prolonged period will have an impact on the health of workers. A driver is one of ten types of work with high level of occupational stress. This study aims to determine the association of occupational stress with hypertension in workers who are private drivers in a transportation fleet company PT Prima Armada Raya DKI Jakarta. The cross-sectional study design was conducted on 229 workers who were active during May-June 2021. Work stress was assessed using a Stress Diagnosis Survey (SDS) 30 questionnaire which aims to assess several components such as role ambiguity, role conflict, quantitative-work overload, qualitative-work overload, career development and responsibility towards others. The results of multivariate analysis showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between work stress and hypertension (PR 8.345 (95% CI: 1.010-68.946; p-value: 0.049) after being controlled by covariate variables, namely age, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, level of physical activity, history of family hypertension and obesity. Periodic medical check-up programs and work stress management are important as interventions in preventing the occurrence of hypertension due to occupational stress. Further research on other types of professions may need to be done

High blood pressure (hypertension) is an increase in arterial blood pressure. If left untreated and uncontrolled, hypertension can lead to death caused by complications. Mortality in patients with hypertension most often occurs because of stroke, kidney failure, heart disease, or disorders of the eye. In high blood pressure, heart pumps blood to the body with exceptional high pressure, one reason is because of emotional stress. Increased blood pressure will be greater in individuals who have a high tendency of emotional stress. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of stress and hypertension in the population in Indonesia in 2007, with kovariat variables: age, sex, occupation, marital status, education, cigarette consumption, alcohol consumption, adequacy of dietary fiber, physical activity, Body Mass Indeks (BMI), Diabetes Mellitus (DM), expenditure percapita and area of residence. This research is an analytical cross sectional study design using secondary data from Riskesdas 2007, which will be implemented from March 2010 until June 2010. Data were analyzed with one variable, two variable analysis and multivariable analysis with multiple logistic regression. The results of this study showed that the prevalence of hypertension in the population in Indonesia in 2007 was 33.9% while the prevalence of stress by 12.1%. There is significant correlation between stress and hypertension after controlled by other variables such as age, marital status, educational level, BMI, DM and expenditure percapita and also controlled by the interaction of age and stress that the negative interaction (antagonism), in which age reduces the effects of stress against the occurrence of hypertension. With the proportion of hypertension caused by the interaction of 3.2%. Hypertension prevention efforts conducted by the intervention to stress, that is with exercise, mental relaxation (recreation), to vent or talk to other people, always cultivate positive emotions and deepening of worship and religion. The need to conduct periodic measurements of blood pressure for the population aged 40 years or older and screened in cases of hypertension by hypertensive disease control program managers who focused on the age group 40 years and older.

Central obesity is a metabolic risk factor associated with an increased burden of non-communicable diseases and remains a health concern among the working-age population. Among manufacturing workers, central obesity may be related to individual characteristics, occupational factors, and lifestyle patterns shaped by daily work routines. This study aimed to analyze the association of sociodemographic, occupational, and lifestyle factors with central obesity among steel-coating plant workers at PT X in 2026. Sociodemographic factors included age, sex, marital status, and educational level; occupational factors included employment status, shift work, work-related sedentary behavior, length of employment, and job strain; while lifestyle factors included smoking behavior, physical activity, sleep duration, sweet food consumption, sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, fatty food consumption, and fiber intake. This study used a quantitative cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 103 workers who met the inclusion criteria. Primary data were collected through waist circumference measurement and questionnaire administration, then analyzed descriptively and bivariately using the chi-square test, odds ratio (OR), and 95% confidence interval (CI). The results showed that the proportion of central obesity among PT X workers was 27.2%. Variables significantly associated with central obesity were educational level, employment status, smoking behavior, sweet food consumption, sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, and fatty food consumption. Workers with higher educational attainment had higher odds of central obesity than those with lower educational attainment (OR=3.08; 95% CI: 1.17–8.10), and workers with permanent employment status had higher odds than those with fixed-term employment status (OR=5.91; 95% CI: 1.57–22.22). For smoking behavior, smokers had lower odds of central obesity than non-smokers (OR=0.26; 95% CI: 0.10–0.65). For dietary consumption variables, workers who frequently consumed sweet foods (OR=0.26; 95% CI: 0.07–0.86), sugar-sweetened beverages (OR=0.19; 95% CI: 0.04–0.86), and fatty foods (OR=0.16; 95% CI: 0.02–0.95) had lower odds of central obesity than those who consumed them infrequently. Meanwhile, age, sex, marital status, physical activity, sleep duration, fiber intake, shift work, work-related sedentary behavior, length of employment, and job strain were not statistically significantly associated with central obesity. These paradoxical findings should not be interpreted as protective effects and require cautious interpretation due to possible measurement limitations, behavioral changes, reverse causality, and unequal sample distribution. This study concludes that central obesity remains a relevant health concern among PT X workers and is associated with several sociodemographic, occupational, and lifestyle factors in bivariate analysis. These findings may serve as a basis for strengthening routine screening, metabolic risk monitoring, and workplace-based prevention programs for non-communicable diseases.
