This thesis explores the relationship of Heat Stress and Workload to Worker Fatigue with a review of the Threshold Limit Values for Heat Stress as stated in the Ministry of Manpower Decree No. Kep-51/Men/1999 which is the adoption of the ACGIH in 1996, where in one decade is implemented, many entrepreneurs in Indonesia complained about its application. This research is quantitative research with cross sectional design.
This research discusses the correlation between heat stress and fatigue among workers at Depo LRT Jabodebek in 2021. This study is a quantitative study with a cross- sectional design. Construction is one of the industrial sectors that has the risk of fatigue. The study was conducted in August 2021 involving 185 Depo LRT Jabodebek workers. The independent variable in this study is heat stress with risk factors, environmental factors, work factors (work period and workload), work clothes factors, and individual factors (age and nutritional status). The results showed that there was a correlation between heat stress and fatigue.
The use of high temperature in production process affect the improvement ofworking environment temperatures. Heat stress is one of physical hazards that canfelt by workers in the hot work environment. This study used cross sectionalapproach. The conclusion of this study that age factor in AHPC area significantlyassociated with heat rash symptoms. But in ALPC area age factor is not related tohealth complaints. Working period, dimensions of the body, and intake of water inAHPC and ALPC area no relationship with subjective health complaints. Keywords: heat stress, health complaints, age, working period, dimension of thebody, intake of water
Construction projects are unavoidable with the risk of heat exposure in every activity.Based on accident investigation, the accidents was caused by workers not being focused and tired while working during the day. This study analyzes the factors of fatigue and alertness due heat stress with potential accidents arising from unsafe actions when heat exposure on Dam construction project PT. X. The research design used in this study is cross-sectional. The population is 150 workers, and sample taken is random sampling with 121 workers . Respondent data collection using a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test. The results of this study are that 51% of workers have the potential to accidents or injuries due to unsafe actions when exposed to heat. Workload, heat stress events, subjective complaints related to fatigue (p value 0.05). From this study it can be concluded that fatigue and alertness are associated with potential accidents (p value <0.05). Management of the company must establish work instruction for controlling heat exposure which includes risk identification, control plans, control facilities and infrastructure, and routine education project workers.
Construction workers are a profession with a high level of risk, workers are often found experiencing stress due to work. Factors that contribute to the occurrence of work stress are physical hazard factors and psychosocial factors, and also individual characteristics. This study aims to analyze the relationship between heat stress and psychosocial factors in the workplace to work stress levels on construction workers at the Jabodebek LRT Depot construction project, Jatimulya, East Bekasi in 2021. The factors studied included physical hazard factors, namely heat stress, psychosocial factors including work content (workload, work schedule, and task design) and work context (role in the organization, interpersonal relationships, and job satisfaction), also individual characteristics. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design. A total of 185 construction workers participated in this study. The results showed that 155 construction workers (83.8%) experienced moderate stress levels and 145 workers (78.4%) experienced heat stress. Found a significant relationship between work schedule, workload, task design, role in the organization, interpersonal relationships, and marital status to work stress levels. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to control the heat exposure and psychosocial factors contained in the Jabodebek LRT Depot development project to minimize stress on workers.
ABSTRACT Name : Ni Ketut Mirra Betri Agustina Study Program : Master of Occupational Safety and Health Title : Analysis of Individual Workload Factors With Subjective Complaints In Heat Exposed Workers in Spare Parts Automotive Industry Manufacture Shift 1, Kelapa Gading In 2017 Exposure to extreme heat can result in occupational illnesses and injuries. Heat stress can result in heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, or heat rashes. Heat can also increase the risk of injuries in workers as it may result in sweaty palms, fogged-up safety glasses, and dizziness. This study was conducted on a spare parts assembly company that has a hot production process that can expose its workers. This study aims to see the description of the level of heat stress on work area 2, how subjective complaints caused by the heat felt by workers and what factors are influential. This study uses cross sectional method by conducting direct measurement of heat pressure at 10 points of measurement and direct measurement to workers using questionnaire. Data collection was done on 129 workers shift 1. Data analysis used statistical test using statistical software. And the results obtained in the form of all workers in work area 2 entirely exposed to heat pressure and entirely feel the climate is hot (overpass Indonesia’s TLV) subjective complaints due to heat. Covariate factors that have significant relationship with subjective complaints are hydration status (p value = 0,000) and health status (p value = 0,002). Due to excessive heat exposure in work area 2, the company must perform technical, administrated and personal controls to minimize the incidence of heat stress and subjective complaints felt by workers.
