Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia are the causes of coronary heart disease (CHD) so that the presence of hypercholesterolemia in patients with hypertension will increase the risk of CHD. Central obesity describes the accumulation of fat in the stomach which can lead to abnormalities in the amount of lipids in the blood, when it occurs in patients with hypertension can lead to progression of the occurrence of high blood cholesterol and the risk of causing atherosclerosis and heart disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of waist circumference and other factors with the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in patients with hypertension. This research is a quantitative study through secondary data with Cross Sectional design. According to the results of multivariate tests with multiple logistic regression, there was a relationship between waist circumference, gender and age after being controlled by physical activity variables. Gender as a risk factor most associated with the incidence of hypercholesterolemia with a risk 8.5 times higher in women than men, then carried out waist circumference stratification test by sex in hypertensive patients with cases of central obesity found a significant relationship that central obesity patients women have a risk of experiencing hypercholesterolemia as much as 5.5 times more than central obesity in men with a value of p < 0.05. There is a significant relationship between waist circumference and the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in women who are obese obese at greater risk of hypercholesterolemia than men who are obese central.

Kata kunci: Obesitas; IMT; lingkar pinggang; persentase lemak tubuh; cut-off point.
ABSTRACT Name : Nur Shofia Study Program : Master of Public Health Title : The Validation Study of Obesity Cut-off Point according to BMI and Waist Circumference with Body Fat Percentage Gold Standard in 19-45-year-old Adults in The Sharia and Law Faculty of Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung, 2018 Counsellor : Triyanti, SKM, M.Sc Obesity is a risk factor for non-communicable diseases. BMI (body mass index) and waist circumference (WC) have been extensively used to define obese status. Several studies have raised that BMI and WC cut-off points may be different among various populations. The objective of this study was to determine optimal cut-off points for BMI and WC to identify obesity in men and women from Sharia and Law Faculty of Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung. A total of 272 subjects aged 19-45 years (men, n=116; women, n=156) were assessed for weight, height, WC, and body fat percentage (BF%). BF% was determined using BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis) Omron HBF-212. The existing BMI and waist circumference cut-off points from Ministry of Health of Indonesia showed low sensitivity to identify obesity in our subjects. The optimal cut-off points for BMI and WC for determination of obesity in men and women were 24.60 kg/m 2 2 ; 24.05 kg/m ; 82.60 cm; and 76.00 cm, respectively. In conclusion, BMI is the most predictive for men to define obese status, while WC is for women. These research findings should be used to evaluate new cut-off points for BMI and WC to define obesity optimally in men and women in Sharia and Law Faculty of Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung. Key words: Obesity; BMI; waist circumference; body fat percentage; cut-off point.
Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases which became part of the public health problem in the world and in Indonesia. Hypertension is known as the silent killer that contributes to the high mortality rate due to heart and vascular disease. Primary hypertension covers approximately 90 -95% of all cases of hypertension. Several studies have shown that a person who is overweight have a greater risk of developing hypertension. Waist to hip ratio (WtHR) is a more precise measurement antopometri to detect risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
This study aims to determine the Association between abdominal obesity (waist to hip ratio) and incident primary hypertension among hajj pilgrims in Sumedang District, 2012. The study was conducted with a cross-sectional design using data results of medical examinations hajj pilgrims in Sumedang District, 2012. Multivariate analysis using Cox regression. Results of data analysis, the proportio n of primary hypertension in pilgrims hajj Sumedang District in 2012 is 22.2% and the central obesity is 36.5%.
Multivariate results showed that abdominal obesity in pilgrims hajj (WtHR > 0.90 in men and > 0.85 in women) had 1,9 risk (PR = 1.879, 95% CI 1.378 to 2.561) to get primary hypertension when compared with who did not ( WtHR ≤ 0.90 in men and 0.85 in women ≤) after controlled variables age, education and a family history of hypertension. Healthy lifestyle, increased physical activity with regular exercise can reduce and prevent abdominal obesity and it is expected to reduce the prevalence of primary hypertension.
